I've been hearing some conflicting reports about this. I had it done after replacing my OEM converter with a Circle D in my last car, although I don't know if it was a necessary procedure.

My 5C converter is now installed in my 2012. I haven't driven it yet, picking it up today or tomorrow. Do I need t bring it to Ford and get it done or not? Not that it takes that long or whatever, just wondering. I do not have an X4. The factory flex plate hasn't been removed/replaced.

I never had it done on my 2011 or my 2014. we changed converter once in my 2011 and 3 times in my 2014. I have even had motor out and cams swapped and not had to have this done and never had a issue.

Unless you remove the flexplate you shouldn't need to.
