Crush sleeve eliminator

Has here anyone tried one of these? In the past, I have not had a problem with setting up a rear gear using a crush sleeve. I do suspect that some failures and noise concerns come from crush sleeves that crush further with slicks and high rpm/hp launches. The eliminator seems like a good solution.

I ran one of these after having issues with the crush sleeve doing exactly what you said under high loads. It worked well, though I wasn't involved at all with the install.

I have one of these in my car. The installer said it was pretty easy, and it makes me feel better that I'll never have to worry about the crush sleeve. I don't race though, so I did it more for peace of mind.

I have one in my car. It takes a little longer to set up because you have to swap shims when the preload isn't correct, but once you get it right it's a breeze.

I'm 99.99% sure I hammered my crush sleeve the first time I ran my 2011 5.0 at the track. Gear noise went WAY up after that night. Even my kids noticed the additional noise. Runs fine, just got noisy.

If I build my rear, I'll use one of these crush sleeve eliminators.

I went to a solid shim for the same reason. I was na with 4.56 gears at the time. Drag radials did it. The noise coming home was horrible compared to what it was going to the strip.

The next set of gears were 4.10 and I had the installer use a solid sleeve from Summit. That was maybe 3 years ago. Still no noise after all that time.

Thanks for the opinions. I took the car to the track yesterday. Maybe I am more focused since I started this thread but the slight rear end noise is getting louder. Of course, I could be subconsciously talking myself into spending some money to rebuild my rear end.

J/K. If I keep my car, it'll get a diff & axle upgrade, along with the solid pinion shim.

I've seen a crush washer off a 07 GT with 450rwhp that had been launched on slicks a few times.

We measured it and the size of the solid washer we put back in it. It was like a 10% difference lol. His preload before we took the pinion out was 7 in/lb.

That was six or so months ago. He hasn't had an issue since and he's running 4.56 gears.

Pretty large price discrepancy. Photos look similar. Which one did you use?

Re-read thread and found ratech's website. I think the cheaper part will do the trick.

Only reason I didn't buy the RATech part is because the reviews I read said the sleeve is basically a piece of pipe cut to length and not cut particularly well. I went with the Yukon and it was nicely machined and fit all the profiles of the pinion gear quite nicely. Worth the money to buy a nicer part IMO.

So let me get this strait, if you are crush sleeve impaired as I am, I could use this after the rear is in the car with gears in and having a little wine, and remove the DS, seal, front bearing, and crush sleeve, and replace with this?

It's not that bad to do gears man. Just leave yourself plenty of time.
