The easier way to test the wire is to feed voltage from a (AA,AAA,C, something below 5V) battery to the analog wires and see what happens.

I'll give it a shot. The strange thing is that it counts up. like a time stamp

That is weird, you are 1000000% sure you've got the right pins?

If doing the battery test, connect the + to the analog1 and - to GND as I don't think it will read negative voltage.

That's why I like the LM1/LC1. Since it's programmable you can simply set it to read ONLY 2.5 volts then check to see what livelink is reading.

Ted, my wire is firewire one one side (SCT device) and 1/8" stereo on the other (LM1). What's yours like?

Firewire on both sides, I want to say it was a 6 pin to 4 pin wire. I am away at school, GT08Vapor has my cable right now. He has been trying to work with Eric Brooks to get it to datalog, I am not sure if he figured it out.

The funny thing is I had an LC-1 but could never get it to read right. Of course I didnt install it till the warranty was up. I changed the o2 but didnt help. I think it was a bad controller.

As for the wires I seem to have the right ones from the autometer because I can with a volt meter read the voltage. As for the vmp cable I checked the continuity to the pins that sct/vmp show and since its pre-made soldering shouldn't be an issue..

Once the wife gets up I can run and do the testing. I will hook a batt to the one side of the vmp cable and read it all the way to the pins of the vmp cable

well... just like I figured.. failed again

Went out and connected the AA Bat to the vmp cable and I connected the VM to the 2 pins of the male part and it reads 1.6v.. I connected the autometer back up and it reads the 1v+, but again the sct or livelink is not showing that.

I tried to make a new config file again with a few other parems, but nothing changed. The sct does show livelink active. I also tried to mess with the logging setting like the PLX,LC1,AM.. nothing changed.

Ill call SCT later and see if they have any ideas..

Without seeing how your is fully wired I will say this Ted. I took a normal firewire cable I had lying around and cut one end off. That end had 6 wires on it, 3 signal wires and three grounds. I ended up tying ALL the grounds together to insure I didn't have any grounding issues. The other two left over signal wires I carefully clipped and folded downward making sure they weren't touching anything. So on the other end was my 1/8" stereo plug for the LM1. It had the three grounds soldered to the ground, and the one signal wire for the positive. Not sure if that helps at all just thought I would share.

What color wires are you showing for

Analog 1
Analog 2
Ground?

Which analog are you using, have any close up shots of the wiring job?

I saw in your pic that you can read 1-3+V on the spade connector... Is the other end of the cable a six pin firewire? Did you try putting the needle of the voltmeter into the firewire cable end to find which lead in the end you can find the same 1-3V signal?

Can you get continuity from the spade end to the firewire end to make sure the voltage is making it all the way throught the cable? This would eliminate a break in the wire somewhere or a bad solder job where the spade connector was put on the wire.

Yeah, i went back and reread the whole thing. Seems I have no help for you....

Hope you get it figured out!

Did you try analog 2, don't remember seeing that anywhere. Found out I had my wideband on analog 2 and boost gauge on analog 1 instead of the other way around after I tried datalogging(I do have a X3 though)

I only have been using the an1.. I have read the voltage all the way through to the male pins of the vmp cable(that plugs into xcal2). its all pre-made so I dont have to worry about soldering..

All that's left is ether something on SCT is F'ed or livewire is set wrong or not reading it out right.

Is your SCT device up to date with the latest software/firmware?

This is BULLSHIT!! I see why Joe gave up..

Got the over priced VMP cable.

-Cut female end
- found out sig gnd= light purple wire
- found AN1 = green wire
- put a connector on both and crimp and heat shrink
- smoked and drank
- hooked everything up
- set livelink an output to just read V

I am just starting to dig into this tonight. I checked my VMP cable with a multimeter and found the same wires on mine matched with the AN1 and Signal ground wire colors above. I will wire it into the AM wideband tomorrow night and see if I can get it to work. I have the newest firmware on my X-CAL and LiveLink 6.4. I verified that I could datalog last night, so I am crossing my fingers it works.
