I know that there are a lot of posts on this subject, but I just cant quite seem to find what I need in the searches. I believe that there may be some tweeking that could be done to my driveablity and startup tune to make my car act a little better under normal driving. My tuner is quite aways away and would rather just check it out with datalogging and maybe some email tuning. I am wondering what I would need to do this? I have a laptop with windows xp(i know old) and a sct X3. Also, I wouldn't mind having someone on here taking a look at the logs also, if they don't mind.

Again, I don't believe at all that there is anything wrong with the tune. Just little things in the drivablity that may need to be tweeked.

My tuner said that he updated my Xcal 3 while he was tuning my car, so is there anyway to tell which version I have on my programmer now? I don't want to download something to mess up the tune that is on my programmer already or lose my stock tune.

Okay guys, I just downloaded Livelink onto my computer and hooked my x3 to the computer. My x3 says communication failure on it when I hook it to the computer(this is without it hooked up to the car)

I have figured out how to get the car, laptop and X3 to talk to each other now. All I need is to figure out is. . .

What I need to datalog

How to save and send the logs

Which wideband to get to work with this

Someone who may want to take a look at these logs and help me out

thanks guys(I know this has been covered a lot)

I have an AEM wideband, and a 3 bar MAP sensor off of ebay, that I have hooked up to Livelink via the analog inputs on the handheld. It doesn't take much but a bit of soldering, and a $2 firewire cable from the local computer store.

As for what you need to log, it depends on what you need to look at. Not trying to be funny here, but there's a bunch of PIDs that you can log, and you might have different reasons for wanting to datalog. I pretty much always do A/F, MAP, MAF counts, spark, speed, RPM, TPS, air charge temp, engine coolant temp, FP DC, STFT, LTFT, and a couple of others I can't remember off of the top of my head.

When you stop the datalog, you can save it as a .csv file; comma separated value file. You can open that in Livelink, Excel, Notepad, what ever you got.

Can you datalog with an autometer w/b gauge? All my others gauges are autometer and would like to keep them all the same.

You don't need guages to data log since that's not where the information comes from....you can datalog without wideband as well but obviously won't see air/fuel ratio.

But don't you really need to have the a/f ratio to know if changes need to be made to the tune?

Also, could you just buy a wideband sensor and just have the wire run into the car to hook up to the tuner for datalogging without having the actual gauge?

I would really like to try and get this figured out if someone could help me. I took the car for a drive tonight.. .

When I went out into the garage to start it I cranked it for about 2 seconds. When it started it just sputtered and barely ran for about 2 seconds. After that, I revs up to about 2k for a good 5-10 seconds. After it idled back done, I tried to back it out of the garage and when you touch the throttle, it acts like it is missing. It will do this missing symptom until it starts getting some heat built up in the engine. After it is warmed up and you are under normal driving conditions, once you get past about 2200rpm, it acts like it has about 50 more hp or something(again this is under normal driving conditions, no boost)

Any insight on where to start would be much appreciated. Like I said I have searched and continue to search, but I just can't seem to get enough info on what to do.
