I was driving and both of my headlights blinked. the next day the right side had a 3 sec delay. Later neither wanted to turn on, but I flipped them on off and they worked. Now they wont turn on at all. I figured the black box thing was broken so I ordered and replaced it, then learned there two so that couldnt be the issue.

I checked a few fuses, but would love to see a list of fuses/relays I should check and their location. I did not install th kit myself but have learned a bit now that I had to trace a lot of the wires, short of taking off the bumper...
I have been looking at the service manual, but only see high beam fuse location.

any help is appreciate as not being able to drive at night sucks...

I've had that problem. Just last night headlights stopped working. Played with the switch a few times and they came back on. Same thing happened with the fogs a while back. It seems its hit or miss, and I'm assuming it is a ballast issue.

Check the ground. I was having an issue with mine and ended up scraping the paint under where I decided to ground it and tightened it down and the HIDs have been working good since.

Had the same issue a while back with my vvme HID's The vibrations of the car rattled something off the board in the ballast. Luckily I have 5 set's of ballasts here. Swaped out both ballasts and no problems since.

just realized what a ballast was looking at their site. My kit has two, one per side, I replaced one side and no change. Next step then I guess ill have to figure out where the ground is..

Thats weird I had them in my car then swapped back to stock bulbs but used one in my ltr450 and never had a problem with it. I've put that thing through the ringer and even slammed into a tree during a harescramble and bent the hell out of the front bumper and still no issue with the ballast or the bulb.

Check the ground and make sure you have a good connection. Check the positive side for the same thing.

I had time today and was warm so I pulled the radiator cover and grille and took apart a plug that looked like a single point of failure because it had four cables going to it including a ground or two. Now I have to find a replacement, would be awesome if autozone had these, but will be searching online. I searched the forum for bumper pulling instructions since I never done it before, boy was it easy to pull the radiator cover and grille. omg... now think I could do my blower myself...

Just to update the thread for someone who might be in the same boat as me. The black box is a control box that is part of the wiring harness. I talked to DDm and will be buying a replacement. glad to finally have a feasible work around. woot..

The cheap ebay kits are just as good. Like all stuff some just last longer than others. I have a set on my explorer DD that is almost 6 years old and yet one bulb was crappy out after a year on my mustang. Still $30 bucks for the entire kit... Most of those "high value" hid kits are just rebadged slim kits. If you order 500 or so, the company/manufacturer will let you create a brand name and box.

www.alibaba.com Search HID kits and compare how they look to some of those "boutique" hid's... Same stuff diferent boxes. Just like canned salmon, when I was in Alaska they told us that almost all the canned salmon in the world comes from one factory with just one can. Go to the super market and find the canned salmon. Check the diferent brands and then compare the cans. Check the markings lol
