LOL its never fun the first time pulling the hat out but once you get the hang of it should only take around 10 minutes. Hope this solves it!

So I took the car out and beat on it pretty good. No hesitating at all, in fact I swear it does better on the top end, but I have not driven the car for a while so it just felt fast as hell. The real test is if it starts to act up on the road course in July.

So I just got home from Seattle. I seem to have the same issue. The car ran fine for 3 20 minutes sessions. During the 4th and 5th sessions the car started to do the same backfiring as before. Right around 5000 RPM at WOT. It was about 80F outside and I would guess the track temp to be about 90F. The engine temp never went up at all, it was steady all day.

Thing is, it did it today on the interstate driving home in the rain, so it was way cooler out. I could hear some sort of baning in the engine at the same time as the backfire. I am worried there could be a cam follower problem, but everything is normal during regular driving and it sounds fine as well.

I am going to do a compression check and then pull the valve covers to inspect the top end.
