eagle vs kellogg crank

For those of you that dont know, I'm building a stroker replacement engine for my steed and amongst the joy of spending all my dough i bought an eagle 4340 3.75 crankshaft. Well unfortunately, I didnt realize eagle cranks are made for eagle rods only due to crank pin sizing , so, i had to sell this brand new crank to buy a kellogg crank of the same variety as this is the only one that fits manley/oliver,etc,,, journals. juat thought i would post up some side by side pics for comparison's sake. as i expected, the kellogg looks like a much nicer, cleaner forging but you be your own judge. Eagle is obviously the rougher of the 2 on the top.

i just mic'd the kellogg and the machining is also much tighter than the eagle. eagle shipped out this morning to its new owner but i had blueprinted it prior to listing. kellogg is just all the way around a better built piece. AND FOR THOSE LOOKING,,,, Lunati claims to have bought the tooling from kellogg to make these cranks and had 5 on the shelf when i bought this one. still over priced but 200 less than mmr. this crank still has the kc logo so not sure if their full of shit about making or not but they are the only outfit ive found shelving these FYI except for ModMustangRecyclers

well the steel is chinese, they are forged here in the states. which means an american company actually manufactures such a second rate forging in comparison to the kellogg. I'm just dumbfounded. and doesn't frpp use the eagle in the aluminators?
I guess it must be for profit margins.

Kellogg isn't available. They couldn't source them.

yes they are available. kellogg is going to be running a batch in september for mmr and lunati bought the tooling from kellogg so they can batch their own. lunati has 4 on the shelf and build them as needed , so they claim. i just bought this one for 1088 + 35 shipping from lunati but mmr has jacked the price twice in the last month and now has them listed at 1399 + shipping and 1499 for the 3.80". fucking bastards, that's why i dont deal with thosse dickheads. cornered the market so they could jack the price to the moon. I repeat though, it still has kellogg's logo on the throw

The ford racing aluminator may come with the necessary piston as that block uses the eagle crank and rod which is a 302 and not a 298. its listed in fords ad as using eagle stuff

I don't know, aren't you the one who said Lunati bought the tooling? Right now I'm glad I got a kellog crank and manley rods with arp2000 bolts for $525 shipped.

Used cranks come up from time to time. Still though, I'd use a stock crank before purchasing from mmr. But that's me.

The 3.75 stroke and 3.572" bore come up to 300.63 cubic inches or 4.92644305 liters, lol. They are using a 5.85 rod so the compression height would be 1.2.
