OP, can you post a picture of the Lunati crank with the Kellogg engraving?
ill get it tonight

We rate the eagles on our street series builds to 650 flywheel
We rate our Livernois/Kelloggs to 1000-1200 flywheel depending on rods used.
the 4340 cranks ? that sems awful low for a 4340 unless your using crap rods and bolts and hype whatever slugs

Unless they are talking about the cast eagle cranks 650 is low.

Any pics of the lunati crank w/ the kellogg stamping?

Broke dafuk down
so do the manley rods still need to be milled down to be used on the kellogg stroker crank? IIRC, there were several that had to do that to gain proper clearance in the journal

My Manley H-beams did not need any machine work with my stock stroke Kellogg crank.

I ask because I have a customer building a stroker with that combo.

Also, are the journals are different on the eagle crank? Why do you need to use eagle rods on the eagle crank?

well the steel is chinese, they are forged here in the states. which means an american company actually manufactures such a second rate forging in comparison to the kellogg. I'm just dumbfounded. and doesn't frpp use the eagle in the aluminators?
I guess it must be for profit margins.

I thought they were forged in China and finish machined in the States.

What is the weight difference between them?

Has anyone ever broken a eagle crank?
I see people using stock cranks to 700rwhp .
Wouldn't a cast eagle be stronger than the stock crank?

I havent seen any mustangs with broken eagle cast cranks but if you google it, plenty of other platforms having issues with eagle cast cranks.

This is from Modmax's website in regards to Eagle Stroker cranks:

The rod journal on this crank is specially sized at 1.889" Honda size, so specific rods are required that use a Honda journal on the big end.

the kellogg stroker cranks use a 2.000" rod journal. mic's to 1.99**. the bearings are the issue, 2.125 big end hole on the rod will use a chevy bearing that has a 2.000" inside diameter, 2.125 outside diameter.
Eagle made their rods with a smaller big end in their rod to accomodate a bearing already marketed for that with a 1.889 inside diameter as their crank is machined with a 1.889 rod journal forcing you to use their rods with their crank. you could theoretically use manley rods with an eagle crank but you would have to have a bearing made and when i looked into that, the rough estimate given was 40K so i just chose to ditch the crank for the kellog so i could use my oliver rods. BTW , the stock stroke kellogg crank has a different journal size than the kellogg stroker cranks

youre right, chinese metal, chinese forging, , then machined here. I'll have to look at my shipping slip for the weight

Not necessarily. Ford makes and purchases pretty good components. The Eagles are known for having excessive runout from time to time.

ok, looks as if some of the questions were answered here.

Yes the Eagle parts require their rods due to the smaller journal size.
the Kelloggs use old school sbc bearings.

Can you make more power with the 4340 Eagle crank? Sure but when marketing parts to a wide variety of customers you can not rate components to the edge. (we do not know if you are putting these engines in a 2500lbs fox or a 10000lb truck)
Just about all of us have had a car in the group that was a freak for the parts in it and when duplicated that version never seems to be on par. car one had a cast crank and made 1000hp car two has the same crank and it broke at 500hp...

If anyone is looking for a reliable build for a mod engine call us. It is far easier/cheaper than having us try to build you another one after a non competent facility/builder has already taken you budget and you are forced to make compromises on the replacement.

Is that an invitation to some good advise on a build underway ?

OK what crank is the best/normal? I looking at building a stroker and dont need to get into all the custom parts. 3.75 or 3.8? KC or Lunati?

What are the pro and cons ?

I guess this is somewhat on topic...

Who makes the ModMax cranks. They have forged strokers (3.8" and 3.75") with 2" rod journals listed under their brand.

To answer "Roberts" my question would be. Why do you want a stock stroke crank?
