ECM swap?

Can I use an 07 ECM on an 05, both are the basic V6 cars?

i know its late , but yes you can , "pats" will need to be redone or wiped , and it must be the same trans,, so if your car is an auto , the pcm must be for an auto ,

no you cant, unless you change a few wires around. Some of it 'will work', but some things like are wired to different pin-outs on the PCM between '06 and '07.
And, the PCM might not even power up, as there were a couple of related power feed changes made that make a direct swap not work as well. (I went through all of these when converting wiring in a '07 to using an '06 pcm and '06 engine harness.)

umm i dont know why you had issues , but the only problem he should face is a diffrent style connector on some things ,other than that it should be plug and play, after pats is reset or deleted
