I currently have 4 CDs stuck in my head unit. I was loading a fifth, and it got stuck halfway in followed by a loud grinding sound. Now, I cannot play, load, or eject any CDs. Has anyone encountered this issue? What is the possible fix?

I've heard of people disconnecting the battery, waiting 10-15 minutes and trying to see if the system works again, it's worth a shot.

Mine did that about a year ago. So I took it out, pulled it apart and took out the disk changing section of the player. The plastic gears were all fucked up. So I took out the CD player portion of the head unit and put it all back together. I had to break the fucker apart to get my CDs out.

Any tips for me if I undertake this operation?

Nah Its really easy. Inside your headunit there is a big rectangular box. That is where your CDs are.

I got the CD's out but I had to basically disassemble the entire head unit. Since there are so many working parts to the CD changer, and I have no idea which is malfunctioning, I think I'm going to get a new aftermarket one.

I don't need DVD, or Nav, just a decent head unit that will work with my stock speakers and have MP3 capability. Any suggestions?

Here's the bowels of the Shaker 500 unit:

It's not fixable, in my opinion, and I'm surely not putting it back in there when I'm not 100% sure it's working. So, I purchased a new Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD unit:

And all the various installation bits including the DVD bypass relays, wiring harness, etc.
