Sucks on the motor....part of racing. Glad the diaper did its job!!

On a bright note.....The car is leaving the line AWESOME!! The new suspension is really doing what it is supposed to. Good work on the set-up!!

:thumb2:On the launch for sure....so smooth.

Good luck on the build and thank God the diaper held the oil. Could have been horribly worse.

makes me want two diapers... one for driver, one for machine. I have worried about dumping oil in a failure and losing traction at those speeds. Seen that happen and it ain't pretty

Glad above all else you were able to walk away

I actually had a belly pan, but most NHRA tracks (during competition) require a diaper or equivalent (belly pan) for 9.99 or faster.

I like the pan myself. The diaper for my application is a PITA.

8.50's is no shit. I remember when dragsters were barely dipping into 8's and that was a big deal! Lot can happen and people can balk all they want about the rules but most.. most are there to protect everyone. Thanks for being responsible and following them

I hadn't been paying attention and just now saw this thread. Definitely sucks, but I am looking forward to seeing the new engine build.

I ain't screwing around this time. It will also be easier on the budget as I am not doing the entire car this time, just the engine.

Already secured a Crower billet crankshaft and preparing to order some profiler heads (flow 524 cfm on the intake). Dropped off the block today, consensus was it can be saved. Selling my P51 heads, the block can be repaired, plus I already have all of the small parts like balancer, belt drive, electric water pump, crank trigger, vacuum pump, etc, so I won't be starting from scratch like last time.

Shooting for 1000 hp at the crank naturally aspirated? I mean shit you had like 924 last time. When you have a failure...UPGRADE!!

1200 hp at the crank. Should be doable with a 598 cid and a profiler head. Hell I made 924 with at the time was stock, unported, P51 heads that flow roughly 400 cfm @ .800 lift on the intake. After porting that moved it up into the 420s. The Profiler heads flow 524 cfm right out of the box--its a f'n serious cylinder head.

Damn dude sorry to see. Any idea on the reason for the oil pressure loss on that cyl yet, all the top rod bearings look ok, too? No detonation but if the bearings are hammered, especially a larger bearing surface I could see. I have an autopsy coming up myself. Hopefully the root is easy to find.

Researching that now along with an external oil pump set up.

I have talked to a lot of people and this oil pressure drop after a run while you pull the chute and brake is common. Most simply put the car in neutral and shut off the car. I never did that as I thought that would eventually burn up the trans.

Looking also at perhaps a custom oil pan to address this issue a little better--all though the pan I had was a Moroso drag race pan with a full windage screen.

Actually all of the bearings showed signs of wear, all though some more then others, a couple a little more then what I would expect after 130 passes, while others were ok. The crank looked really good except for rod journal #7. I didn't really see any signs of detonation but who knows.

so that forces oil away from the pick up tube and starves the motor of oil?
