ET Street bias wont hook!

Just switched from a 275/60/15 drag radial to a ET Street bias tire, 28/13.5/15..Had a best 60ft of 1.5 with the dr"s, easing off the line for 20 ft, then sprayin. The new bias tires wont hook at all. Whatpressure shouldI run, how much of a burnout, etc? I thought these tires would straight hook. I don't get it. Full boltons, 100 shot, 4.10 rear. Any help would be great.

What pressure have you tried? What size rim are they mounted on?

From 14-20. On a 15x10.

Give some info about your setup. Right now we don't even know what car you have, let alone what suspension mods you have, trans, etc. Are you lowered, what springs/shocks etc. The more info you give, the more effective the answer usually.

That being said I would try 12-13 psi cold as a starting point. Yeah 20 psi is a bit much.

2010 Roush Convertible. Lowered 1.5 front, 1 inch in rear. Adjustable panhard rod wit spherical ends. Stock lower control arms. Roush/BMR upper with spherical, JMS mount, in factory hole. Steeda poly bushingin rear end housing. 5-speed, exedy mach 500 clutch. Launchin at 5500, on the spray. 2nd gear burnout, for about 4-5 seconds, then spinning out of the box. Also tried launching on motor at 5500, spins terribly. If I cant figure these out, I will prob go to a set of M/T pro drag radials.

If you're lowered without lower control arm relocation brackets then you're going to spin (and hop). Talk to Kelly at BMR for specific suggestions.

I get zero wheel hop, street or track. I thought the bias tires would do a least a little better than the radials. Same set up on both tires.

Not necessarily. My previous 5.0 was lowered 1.25" and I had no wheel hop and traction was no worse...I think it really depends on many factors IMO.

You lowered 1 1/2 front and 1 rear. Sounds like a ton of rake with little weight transfer to the rear wheels

Are you sure you are getting wheel spin. Have you checked to see if the tires are spinning on the wheels? Burnout definitely needs to be longer, bias plys like heat.

I agree with the too much air pressure assessment. If it hooked on the DRs, it should hook on the ET Streets. But quality lower control arms like these will certainly help.

While not solving the root of the problem, this is probably the easiest solution, especially since you had good luck with the previous set of radials you had--and the fact that there is no better DR right now then the M/T Pro 275. It is weird that your car can make the radial work yet it doesn't like the bias ET Street at all. For a while the ET Street bias ply was the go-to tire for the manual trans guys.

Perhaps the track conditions were crap? I would try again before giving up on them, but you can't go wrong with those Pro 275s.

Are you thinking a bad clutch or rearend problem?

Thanks for all the help. I will mark the tires, and check for wheelspin inside the tire. I was leaving at 7/8 throttle on the radials, then flooring it 20 ft out to spray. 1.5 60ft wasnt bad. I just figured going to these bias tires, would make a huge traction improvement, considering all other factors remained the same. Best 60ft on the bias has been 1.9, spinning all the way through first gear. I understand some lower arms and relo brackets would help, but the setup has remained unchanged, the radials did better
