My 2005 S197 turned 20 this year, so no more emissions tests (even though the engine is a 2018). Normally, I wouldn't mind keeping the EVAP system in since it may help the earth last a little bit longer; however, my car is getting forced into "limp-mode" or "conservative-mode" after 10-20 minutes of driving. From my research online, it looks like this will happen when there is a pressure build-up on the EVAP system, but the EVAP Purge Solenoid near the intake of the engine is stuck shut. When I did the Coyote swap, I took the EVAP system from the 2018 donor vic. I tried to make it work with the 2005 body harness, but don't have a lot of confidence that part is correct.
So I think the most foolproof (emphasis on fool) way forward is to delete the EVAP canister and purge valve solenoid, install a rollover-safe vent valve on the gas tank, and then trick the ECU to never put the car into limp-mode. The ECU is from the FPP engine control pack sold by PBH.
I can figure out how to delete the canister and purge valve, and install the rollover-safe vent valve on the gas tank. However, does anyone know how to get the computer to not put the engine in limp-mode when it doesn't see the EVAP canister or solenoid?
