Well the time has already come... Clutch started slipping bad on saturday and I am going to go with the Exedy Stage 4 Mach 600 Clutch. Rated at 750 flywheel tq. Comes with the Throw out bearing/ slave cylinder for $580 shipped. Pretty hard to beat. Will I be okay with just a resurfaced flywheel? I really want to keep the weight of the Steel flywheel, thats just personal preference. I know a lot of aftermarket clutch companies recommend one way or another. Also any input on this clutch would be great as well. Wanted to do a McLeod but since this was so unexpected going to have to take a cheaper route. Also what fluid would be recommended? Ive read Mobil 1 ATF is pretty good stuff. Thanks!

Also kind of considering the Spec Stage 3+. If someone can sell me on it I may get it instead. Ive heard good things about the Spec 3+ and have used Exedy in the past but nothing this high powered

Edit: Also any tips on bleeding the slave would be helpful too. Ive read the 2005 do not have a bleeder valve. Ive never messed with anything with a hydraulic TOB

I had the Exedy 500 and it was a lot stiffer pedal than I would have liked. It also engaged about 1/2" off the floor so I ended up having to adjust my seat further forward so I could smash the pedal all the way down every single time I shifted. I didn't think it was too bad at first but the longer I had it the less I liked it. It engaged really hard which I figured would be good for the track but my 60' times said otherwise.

Got the new T56 trans and chose the McLeod RST clutch. Talk about a world of difference! Pedal is light as a feather, engagement is much higher and very smooth. I would never get another Exedy after using the McLeod.

Bench bleed the slave before installing. Once it's all together all you can do is jack up the left front corner of the car and keep pumping the pedal until it works.

I would love to get the RST but for $720 plus the slave $179 and fluid, Id almost be at $1000 for a clutch set up where as this is $580 plus fluid. I just can't justify paying the extra right now. I really wish I could though. Thanks for the tip on the slave btw!

I really wish it would have slipped while Lethal was having their 20% off Mcleod a few weeks back!

My 600 does not like Slave cylinders.
That pressure plate has quite a bit more clamping force.

Damn... What would you suggest?

...Just figured out I can get a Mcleod RST with a new slave for $826. Tough choice... Erg

I don't know if the 500 has a different pressure plate, but many seem to like it.

I can get it for $515 with the slave. I think that will definitely hold my power and might even in the future as well. I may go that route. Hopefully someone can give me their experience with the mach 500

I have the 500 with their flywheel. No issues at all. Still in the breaking period and obviously no track time. Motor feels like it spins up faster and its def lighter, i forget the number exactly.

It's a little stiffer than stock with a shorter clutch. Took some getting use to after it was installed. I have about 1/4" slack in the pedal until u feel the clutch. It's not a DD. It grabs first kinda harder all other gears feel normal.

I had a 500 and matching flywheel installed about a year ago. It is a bit stiffer than stock, but nothing but 2k of street driving on it, so no track feedback. If you might a consider a slightly used one, mine is being pulled in about 2 weeks when I get the auto swap complete and will be going up FS.

I had Brenspeed install a Mach 600 in October of 2010. Broke it in for about 750 miles. It does grab down low but once you get the feel of it, you can feather it pretty good into first. Once you're rolling, it drives like stock.

How much power are you putting down? Which TOB? And which flywheel?

Call and ask Jared if he will still honor the deal or call JPC. It's a few hundred right now but in a few months the extra money will be forgotten and you won't be wondering how the RST would of been.

Will they work good with resurfaced flywheel and new factory slave? I really want one. I may have a slightly used one set up for $600 if I can't get a deal through Jpc or lethal
