Been doing quite a bit of reading on meth and how it helps iat and slows the burn rate so i think its my best soultion to my problem. I have a built motor and only running 12-14 psi depending on redline. It has a f1a prochager with a 5" pulley. I live in az and it is obviously really hot and the iat's rise really fast. If i install a meth kit, i would like the increase the power as well as control the iat's. how much can i increase the boost safely. I have a 4.25 pulley that will make about 22 psi at 6300 on my race gas tune. I have thought about installing a waste gate and limiting the boost to most i can safely run on 91 with meth. What do most people that run meth with pump gas run for boost that have built motors.

a waste gate would be a waste. It will still be spinning the blower at the same rpm, heating the air the same, causing no change in IAT.

Meth seems to be the way to go. I would use it to only cool IAT not as a tuning aid to make power.

i have a thread started about IAt and small changes i am making with the IAT changes. I will be adding a meth kitt and will post results

I think he wants to use the waste gate because he can only get 91 octane and wouldnt have to switch pullies to run race gas.

Just a guess

a waste gate wouldn't be a waste. it would allow more boost down low and keep it at a safe level. Then when i run the race tune it would be a simple adjustment of a boost controller. The meth kit is what will lower the iats. doing a progressive set up with two nozzles i should have lower than ambient air temps. with more torque due to the boost coming in sooner but still be safe becuase it will be limited by the waste gate. with a f1a a 4.25 pulley is way under the max rpm so its not even close to over spinning it but it still generates a lot of heat

I read it wrong, i took it as you were going to run the wastegate to try and lower IAT. The waste gate setups seem to run pretty good.

After the meth I plan to run the 27 psi pulley all the time and use the Trueboost and wastegate along with meth to control the boost on the street at 16 psi and keep the temps at bay with more low end power. That is my plan for now at least. LOL

IIRC, there were two people on this forum that lost an engine due to a AEM trueboost. I can't remember the posts right at the moment, but I do remember that I told myself I would never run one after reading about it.

Another option- install the meth kit, run the same amount of boost, but crank up the ignition timing. Not sure where you're at timing wise now, but you could see ncie gains this way.

This gives you the option to pull the timing back out via your tune should IATs being to rise (indicative of the meth injection failing).

I would like to be somewhere around 18psi with a 23psi pulley and use the meth to rasie the octane and lower iats to make sure i dont have any detionation issues. Does that seem out of sight for pump?

Kind of how mine will work. I will not be using the meth for power, just keeping the temps at bay so the boost can work without pulling timing. It will still only be at 16 psi on the street with a smaller pulley (24 psi) and with the WG and the meth will keep the temps down. Then when wanted the boost can be raised via the Trueboost. With race fuel.

I will be on c16 on the big boost. I dont see why you couldn't run 18 psi on pump with meth and be safe about it with a good tune.

Yes, I ordered a '99 lighting AIT sensor and pigtail at my dealer today. Or there are vendors that have the kit for sale for less then the Ford retail. If you have a discount it can be had cheaper at you dealer.
