I picked up some mufflers from here.. they are pretty bad condition.. cosmetically.. looks like dirt/mud burned.. how would i properly clean this??
i was told dipping the mufflers in bleach all night would take care of it.. is this true? any proper way to do this??

Thanks

Is it only the mufflers that are dirty, or are the tips as well?

+1

If its just the mufflers have them ceramic coated black. It really hides the mufflers since the GTA's "hang down" so to speak.

Also if the tips are dirty use some stainless steel polish to clean them.

Wow, that's pretty rusty. It might take some sanding to remove all of that rust. Not sure if it is worth all that work though with the plentiful axle backs in the for sale section IMO.

It appears to be rust on these. Do not soak them in bleach, this will just speed up the rusting and if you let the bleach get inside them it will deteriate the baffels on the inside of the mufflers.

I don't know who you bought these from but according to how they described the condition at time of sell, I think I would be asking for my $ back. I would not put those on my car!!!!

Just to give the original seller a hand, the picture of the "dirty" mufflers were in the for sale ad. As stated before, I'd sand them down and call it good. Polish the tips and that should clean them up pretty good.
They honestly look much worse in the OP's pictures, but for $50 who can complain?

I would do just like others have said and just sand them, tape off the tips, and spray the mufflers with high temp paint. The tips will polish out with a little elbow grease and some polish.

Good luck!
