My 2011 GT500 SVTPP is being built, and I'm looking for a set of replacement wheels I can shoe with A/S rubber and either store the ungodly expensive SVTPP wheels and tires or set them aside for track use only.

I'm a hair away from buying the RTR's, but I'm torn between them and the TSW Nurburgring RFs - which also happen to come in 20" to more closely match the appearance and sidewall dynamics of the staggered SVTPP wheel diameter.

I'm confident that I'd be satisfied with either, but I'm hoping some folks who are running either wheel can provide me with some additional info to help me make the best decision.

1. How closely does RTRs or TSWs interpretation of "gunmetal" match Ford's SVTPP finish?

2. Does anyone know what the center cap diameter of either wheel is and whether or not it's interchangeable? If so, will it accept OEM Ford or Shelby center caps without modification? (I believe Ford Center Cap diameters are 2.5")

3. If anyone happens to have done exactly what I'm trying to do, how satisfied are you with the RTRs or TSW Nurburgring RFs on your GT500 as SVTPP wheel replacements?

Thanks in advance for any helpful guidance.

Just got these wheels in and i must say i cant stop looking at my car.

Specs:
19x9.5 RTR wheels with 255/40-19 F and 285/35-19 R Falken FK452's. The fitment is pretty flush and can be ordered at http://www.mustangrtr.com

They recommend and originally come with 275/40-19 for the rear tires what got u to go with the 285/35-19? Also do they fit perfect and have u run into any problems in doing so? I just bought the rims and am confused on what to get for the rear tires any help would be great. Thanks

I didn't think the RTR's came with ANY tire pre-selected. Recommendation by Mustang trim, even option pack, is another matter - and the choices for a matched set that compensates for the SVTPP 28" diameter without going too narrow is sparse at best.

I'd prefer to NOT choose Falkens, particularly for all-season use, but I may yield to keep the extra 1/2 inch of tire width.

I bought the rims directly from the Factory and they were selling me the exact tire sizes that are put on the RTR Mustang built by the race car driver. I told them I wanted the 285 on back and they wouldnt sell them saying thats not what they recommend and if i wanted different sizes i would need to get them elsewhere. I did find them cheaper at discount tire and wouldnt have to pay for shipping. What tires and sizes would u put bro?

Did they include TPMS sensors too?

I have the GT500 with SVTPP, so I have to replicate a 28" rear tire diameter of the 285/35-20 tires, so I need to go with either 285/40-19's or 275/40-19's.

Two potential problems exist with the 285/40-19. The first is that it exceeds the dimensions of the OEM tire, and the taller sidewall means even more give. Maybe it wouldn't end-up being a problem, but I'd be on my own if I did.

The second problem is selection. The only other A/S tire Ive found that come in matched sets with 255/40-19's for the front is the ContiProContact, but it's a touring - rather than performance - tire. A handful of of winter/snow tires exist, but I'm not going that route.

That leaves the 275/40-19's - and a WHOLE BUNCH more tires to choose from, including many all-season ultra high performance choices - albeit some expensive ones.

I've narrowed my choices down to Continental ExtremeContact, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, or my likeliest choice - Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole Position.

I hate to give-up the extra 1/2 inch of tread width on the rear, but I'm going to have to make the devil's deal to make the GT500 drivable without the OEM SVTPP wheels and tires. It's also one hell of an expensive proposition, as this is going to be about another $3K before the car even comes off the truck.

I COULD go with a set of staggered aftermarket wheels, but that would leave out the RTR's, and I'd still be bound to a 275mm width. Because the SVTPP was basically built from the tire up, all of the geometry, suspension setup, and everything else is predicated upon a 28" rear wheel, and Ford has not yet (and may not) come out with a PCM reprogrammer for the SVTPP cars. And if you talk to Ford Racing or SVT Support, they won't offer the least bit of guidance beyond winter tire choices.

So, the best I figure I can do is stay within the original tire dimensions and shape, particularly at speed - and the 275/40-19's are the best and safest way I've found to do that. Unless somebody has a better recommendation to make.

Looks tight bro, what got you to go with the 245/40-19 in the front vs the 255/40-19 that the RTR Mustang is coming out with?

Sorry for the delay guys as i havent checked this site in a while. The factory recommends the 275 in the rear but i wanted to get a bit more meat in the back for both looks and performance.

With my set up the front tires are .2 inches taller then the rear which is VERY minimal and 10 out of 10 people couldnt tell the difference by looking at it. Ill Let me know if you guys have any more questions.
