this 6spd shifts GREAT!!! its not notchy at ALL like the t-5's or any of the Tremec's. if you dont atleast drive the 6spd version before deciding against it then your a fool to begin w/.. i was wanting an auto and decided to get the 6spd instead just because it shifts SOO much better then prior manuals. i dont even plan on buying an after market shifter (unless i get a HELL of a deal on it) because this shifter is great, the shift pattern is nice and tight, so tight that i keep missing 3rd when i was speed shifting and ending up in 5th instead, but ive found out how to shift it correctly now so that wont happen anymore... as far as the skip shift, its not a big deal either.. it ONLY skips to 4th if your below 2k rpm's and try to shift out of 1st.. i like it actually.. but most of the time it doesnt even engage (depending on how you drive). i say quit complaining about it and just go drive a manual and an auto, then let us know if you still dont want the new 5.0. im betting that you will LOVE it.. just like the other 98% of us. so far ive got 1100k miles on mine, and i cant find ANYTHING to complain about!!

What I don't get is how people are still somehow unaware that the '11 comes with skip-shift...

Skipshift on manuals now!?... not sure i like that at all! Wonder if it will cause problems down the line?... I mean thats why its a manual in the first place, so you can choose your next gear, come on ford... at least it looks like its bypassed easily.

i dont think it will be a big deal. I don't really feel the transmission pushing too hard going into 4 gear and i can force it into second if i want too.

Will an '05-09 TR3650 bolt up to that block, or is the bolt pattern on the block different to accomodate the new transmission?

An 8 bolt flywheel will bolt up, but they use different clutches. Not just the spline count is different, but the clutch itself is different too. The disc has the large diameter hub, similar to the 05-2010 clutches.

So the special 8 bolt flywheels for the s197's work? Since they have the big opening for the larger hub

Have you guys tried the 1 piece DS off a 05-10 on the 2011 manual?
