lemme ask you guys, im draining and replacing my oil today in the currie rear, its had a small leak since day one so im fixing it today. How much oil do these things hold?
Generally you fill the rear till the fluid starts coming out the fill plug on the third member.
Thanks Paul. I was looking at curries site and I see they have a gasket for the 3rd member to the housing now. That must be newer than my rear end as I have no gasket. They RTV'd mine in. Im gonig to use RTV to seal it back up seeing as i dont have that gasket.
Any idea what the torque specs are on the nuts that hold the 3rd member to the housing?
You can use any commercially available Ford 9" gasket. We generally use the Fel Pro from out local parts supplier and apply a bead of silicone to both sides of the gasket (I apply a bead on the side of the gasket that faces the housing, put the gasket in place over the studs, then apply a bead of silicone to the third member and slide that in place on the studs)
No problem, I have changed them out quite a bit when i was helping a friend that raced. DOn't do what my friend did, he lost his grip, the 3rd member fell and cut off the finger tips of two fingers but they were able to sew them back on.
i also see that jpc sells Moser 9" assemblies and what not, how do they compare to currie 9" products?
