First off, I know this is an s197 forum, I own a 2007 get and that's why Im a member. However, most of you all are very knowledgeable about other mustangs as well. So I have tried finding a thread on here or a forum else where on the subject matter but to no avail. Here it is.
So I have recently came across a fox body and I want to make a drag car, I have my daily and don't want to compromise disability of that so I got a fox for the platform. I'm trying to decide what motor to run in it. Im looking for a low 11's or high 10's, somewhere in that neighborhood (or faster) and I can't seem to decide what route would be better or cheaper. And I know that drag racing and budgets don't mix very well)
I currently have a 1995 460 efi that I thought about putting into it but I haven't seen very many 460 efi swaps that were very good for power or drag builds, the only 460 swaps that I have seen were the older carb'd motor. I am a big block fan but I don't like the build price of them. What I thought of doing would be putting a carb on the motor I have and stroke it to a 5xx cubic inch and do a small build but enough to hold a decent amount of Nitrous.
The second motor I thought of (going chains all die hard ford fans) would be a turbo 5.3 or 6.0. There are plenty among the junk yards here (Southern. Mo) and it seems to be a cheap build for the power. But, its a Chevy motor in a ford...
Next would be a sbc 350 (again, ford fans' worst nightmare). My family has been pretty big into dirt racing and we are able to pick up a sbc 350 crate motor very easily. I would more than likely run nitrous on a mild built motor.
So, I know this is a lot of information and me just talking, but what would you do? And other motor I might have missed (besides the 351 Windsor or a 302... I don't like them... ) ? Im trying to stay on a decent budget but make good power and a good et in the 1/4. Any other setups that you guys would run? Any threads you can direct me to? Thanks in advance.
