FRPP intake manifold...is this normal?

I hope the word gets out and people return these FRPP intake manifolds ASAP! Ford needs to get back to the drawing board and improve this design. Tells me Ford Racing didn't do enough testing prior to releasing the product to the public, and that vendors that worked with the initial design weren't paying attention because this defect should effect ALL of them based on the injection molding process. I would post that video everywhere since Ford said, "they never heard of this problem before.."

If someone were to get hurt, like a fire, and I pray that doesn't happen, then they quickly get off their asses and fix things because they know a lawsuit will really hurt them. At least with video there is proof. Not that long ago they could drag their feet.

I called FRPP today and they said they would call back...OP have you heard anything???? Because I sure as hell havn't...... Mine isnt moving as much as yours but It does a little. At first I wasnt to concerned but after I thought I am, I dont want to be slamming some crapmaro and my sh!t catch fire...that would be embarassing....

i haven't heard anything either yet...its gonna take sometime to hear something from them...they know they have fucked up pretty bad with this im going to email him back later in the week and see whats up and if i don't hear anything im going C&L intake manifold at least they researched and tested the shit out of it to make a better product so far

Wow, just read through this thread and I am sorry to those who are having the issues with the FRPP intake. That's got to blow!

On a side note, I am sure the fellas over at C&L are sitting back with there feet up, hands crossed and a big smile on their face. They had a few bugs bugs upon launch. It is expected, but they went back to the drawing board and got shit together and took care of there customers. Lets see what FRPP does with this. I hope they take care of you all in a proper fashion. But I have a feeling C&L will benefit a little from this mishap.

I just viewed the video. I was ready to buy one of the FRPP's but now I won't. Maybe delete plates with the stock intake that does not flex or the C&L aluminum intake will the the choice.

There is merit in not being the first kid on the block to get the newest toy out there. That flex to me is like it's just a piece of junk. Weak walls and poor quality control.

This is obviously a manufacturing quality control issue. With all the time that FRPP was holding this thing back I can't believe that engineering wouldn't notice something as obvious as this. But, then again, nobody else noticed it until the op did. The tech guy I spoke with said that this would probably be handled as a warranty issue, but that was before everyone else started complaining too. If one guy complains you just send him a new manifold. If everyone complains, it's clear then that it's a large scale problem. And since FRPP was unaware of any problems before today then they don't have a fix. I'm waiting to see what their response will be.

I really don't understand how "quality control" could have missed this during testing of the final product. Could there have seriously been nobody physically looking at the intake as it was being used on a functioning engine, n/a or otherwise? I really don't get how this got missed, it's so obvious.

If these are "injected molded" perhaps there was a badly blended batch of material when making some of them.

It could have been bad raw product going in to the molds, if they follow world class manufacturing they won't check the raw product as all of there suppliers are supposed to follow the same rules, but some don't, as far as QC they most likely only check random samples for the correct dimensions, but not for strength, once again it goes back to the WCM methodology. Sorry about your troubles, sure am glad i read this before i ordered one.

At least the flexing problems with the intake were found before the freezing winter season. I would imagine that much flexing would cause the intake to possibly crack.

It certainly could be related.

Anyone that has this manifold on their car should remove it ASAP in my opinion. The fuel rail should never move, even the slightest amount.

I'm rather shocked that this product made it to market.
