Can you elaborate on why you "didn't like the feel of it?" The reason I am asking is because I had a Steeda Tri Ax shifter, but I had to get rid of it because for me, the reverse lock out wasn't working like it should. I would find myself putting the car in reverse when I wanted to be in first, and I have been driving manual transmissioned cars for 25 years. It was quite embarrassing/frustrating. I have been thinking about giving the Barton a try, becuase I don't want to drop $400 on an MGW right now.

reverse lockout worked fine, my issue was the throw felt too short for my liking, tried it for 1000 km's and just could not get used to it. Shifts are firm and crisp with it though. I'm going to try and find something else that's similar with a throw halfway between stock and the Barton unit.
