hey guys I am gonna get the diff done over winter. I am gonna get a T2 or T2R, still undecided. What gears, if any change, would you recommend. Car is mainly a track day car. 2007 GT500. It's about 3700 lbs and has 640 rwhp and 585 rwtq. Right now I have the stock pumkin with 3:31's.

Get the T2R, it works great

Do you have the 2007-2009 GT500 TR-6060 trans in there? If so I would go with the 3.31's or even 3.08's.

I'm running almost the exact same power level you are but my trans has higher ratio's 1-3rd (T-56 Magnum) and my 3.55's are just about perfect. A lot of the time I can stick it in 3rd and run it like an automatic. This is based on a 26-26.5" tall tire.

Ya still the stock 6060 with the 3:31's stock. I run a 25.5 inch tire in back.

It comes down to personal preference but at the end of the day if you can use the torque and run it like an auto for most of the lap it will translate into faster lap times. When I was racing the first thing I did when I got to a track I had never run was to figure out how to get around with the fewest shifts (within reason of course). Plus that is less chance for a mistake, less wear and tear on the trans, etc. And if you ever feel you need more power to pass of something run it a gear lower and say bye. bye.:beerdrink:
