i have a 100% genuine Shelby GT500 paperweight conversation piece.

it a messed up piston from a motor that spit a rod thru the block.
the motor was in a 07 GT500 running a whipple 2.9 and pushing 20lbs boost. i think it made almost 900rwhp. it got a bad batch of gas and that was the end.
piston is directly from the motor after dissembling. i will clean off the oil before shipping. it still has the genuine Shelby carbon on the piston. if you still want that on let me know and i won't clean it off before shipping. when rod broke the piston bent the ring lands and the rings can't be easily removed. if you don't want the rings let me know and i will make them removable with a hammer and chisel.

selling for $20 SHIPPED in the lower 48 states.

i have partial sets of pistons from 3 motors. several have detonation damage and i think of them have melted domes to the ring lands. i also have the crank end of the rod that broke, the middle 2" went thru the block. i also have a bent rod from the opposite piston.101_0259.JPG 101_0260.JPG 101_0261.JPG

Bad gas ? Why didn't the knock sensors do their job ?

Where are you located?
I kinda want one.

Cuz '07 GT500's don't have knock sensors.
The GT500 didn't gain them until the '11 model came out.

Same thing with the '03-'04 Cobra, no knock sensors there either.

I got a box of shit like that.... :(

Exactly, anyone doing this for a while has ruined plenty of parts. I surely don't want to buy someone else's mistake.

MrT is in Wisconsin. No one knows where new berlin is unless you are near there.

Plus about the knock sensors, even if the motor had them, that doesn't make it bullet proof, they can only do so much.

i am located in new berlin wi 53146 zip. it's a suburb of milwaukee about 10 miles SW of downtown milwaukee right off the I-43 freeway.

the piston in the pic is SOLD on the gt500 forum and going to texas.
i still have the big end of the rod from this cylinder that was attached to the crank if you are interested in that. the middle 1/2 of the rod went thru the side of the block and we didn't find it.

i do have another cool piston from a melted down 07 GT500 motor.
the car this melted down motor had muffler deletes, long tube headers, no cats and 3" exhaust. needless to say it was a bit LOUD was a understatement.
guy raced all day at union grove raceway on 110 octane tune. he had high 20's lbs boost, made high 800 low 900 rwhp, and the car was running high 9's low 10's. and to answer your question yes that was on the STOCK block and internals. after racing he filled up with pump 93 but didn't load his 93 octane tune, he still was running a 110 tune. after filling up with gas guy got 1 block before his motor melted died and melted down. the piston is the result. i think i have a few other detonation pistons with obvious detonation pits but not melted down like the one in the pic if you are interested in them.

as someone said even if it had knock sensors they can only do so much.
the motor meltdown happened 1/2 block from the gas station after filling up.

the piston came from this motor in this ad.

no one wanted a smoking deal so i disassembled the block. the crank is perfect. and now i will sell everything one piece at a time and get 4 TIMES my original asking price.

anybody want a good used GT500 oil pump? i will be using the pickup in my next motor. $40 shipped in the lower 48 states.
how about a GT500 5.4 block that needs the cylinders bored and a good crank from another motor. $500 SHIPPED in the lower 48 states.
