Sorry my response was for Pentalab not Dino.

Interesting factoids nevertheless, though I already knew why Olds called theirs a 4-4-2.
The 445ci Godzilla will inevitably be compared to the venerable Ford 460 Big Block that was discontinued 25 years ago, producing 245hp & 400lbft in its final iteration. It's testament to the 460's reliability that many are still surviving. They also have huge upgrade potential.

Any downsides? Yeah, very poor gas mileage and it's a great big 720lb lump of cast iron. The Godzilla is a comparatively svelte 580lb and the Megazilla should be similar in weight. Will they be as reliable as the 460 BB? We'll have to wait and see.

A Megazilla transplanted into an S197 with a T56 Magnum XL should deliver similar performance to the '13-'14 GT500 but with less effort. Imagine how much faster it would be with twin turbos and over 1200hp! :D

And imagine how easily it will bust driveline parts with that torque!

Agreed. Like DS, universal joints, CV joints, bolts, rear end differential, LSD, axles, lca's, uca's, and anything else I forgot.

For typ street use, it would be a spinfest.

Hi Dino,

Oldsmobile (long gone by now) had several different displacements over the years... I am sure they had a 400 in there back in the early 60's and then the larger 455 in 70's... FYI Interestingly, 442 stands for; 4-speed, four barrel and dual exhaust. LOL

In 1985 the 442 was mostly a decal option powered by a smog-controlled 5.0L 307 Oldsmobile motor, I recall rated at 175-190HP. We pulled a 6.6L 403 Olds motor from a low-milage Delta 88 and did some minor upgrades. With the 200-R4 (4-speed auto) and 3:73 gears it ran like a champ! Surprised a lot of people too.
A buddy had a 1969 olds Delta 88, with the 3 speed auto. It had a 455 CI engine in it, that put out a whopping 315 crank hp..and ran on 87 octane...and had a single exhaust..and a single 2 barrel carb. It had globs of TQ though, and would do 80 mph in 2nd gear. They made a 2nd version of the same 455 CI, which had dual exhaust, single 4 barrel carb, and ran on premium gas. I think it was rated for 350-360 hp.

Back then, they were called..'turnpike cruisers'. They all put out globs of max tq at aprx 2200 rpm. None of em had a LSD..and just burned up one rear tire. Back in 1974-1979, I drove it a few times, usually from the bar at 1:00 AM. It would clean out a datsun 240Z with ease in a street race downtown. They didn't handle worth a shit with the marshmellow suspension, leaf springs, etc. Esp in the rain on tight corners, easy to lose it. Gas mileage was crap. Back then it was like $6.00 to $8.00 to fill the tank, and draft beer was just 25 cents a glass. You could fill up the tank, and have 8 beers..for just $8.00 to $10.00 For another $1.50 you could gorge urself with late night, take out chicken etc. If it all went to hell, a cab ride home was a whopping $2.25 Then crawl out off bed at 10:45 AM...and rush to get to the 11:00AM mass.... to repent. Then repeat the next friday + sat nights.

Me, I bought a brand new 1977 honda civic, 1200 cc, which put out a whopping 57 crank hp @ 7000 rpm. 4 speed manual, which put out next to zero hp < 2500 rpm. 80 mph @ 5000 rpm...in top gear. Heck, it even had an AM radio in it. No 8 track though.

I’m thinking Godzilla in a S197 would be awesome. If I could afford that engine, the rest of the drivetrain would be no problem. Street traction might be laughable but what fun you could have playing with the torque.
In my youth I stuffed a 327 and powerglide into a 72 Opal GT. Had a lot of fun in that car but I never did get it to go straight.

I am an FE guy, The FE's made great power and best of all a boat load of torque in the low RPMS... I have two, 428CJ and a 428PI Also have a few 429's which I prefer over the 460. I also have a few 351's...
Love the early Iron even if they are heavy...
