Congrats, keep us posted.

First big pull today.

2200 to 6800 in 2nd gear. All I can say is WOW! Of coarse the car is not at full potential but, man after 2.5 years of not feeling any REAL power, it was amazing. I hit 16 psi and the af stayed within reason for tuning . Lito has just sent me a new tune file with a few changes and I will test more this week.

I do have to say this is very stressful knowing my hands put together every part that I am pushing on now! I was very nervous about the big pull today and was only planing on going to 6500 but, my mind was watching all the gauges all the while wondering if the car was going to break traction.

I am very impressed with my suspension setup and the Nitto DRs, I don't really know what power level I am at right now but, the car hooked and stayed hooked from 2200 to 6800 on a 2nd gear pull that netted 16 psi.

Fun day, that's all I can say. Detailed the car and did my 1st big pull on the new setup!

Only down side or issue I have found is, that I have a slight oil leak. It is at the rear of the motor so, my fingers are crossed that it is the pan. I don't want to have to think about a seal issue at this point. Things are going to well.

Glad to hear it. The part about building the motor yourself shouldn't make you nervous. You know everything was done correctly, that makes it better than anything you could of paid someone to do!

Trace the oil leak. A front leak will travel down the pan, across the block and drip off the bellhousing.

I'm looking forward to more reports now that it's in the final stages.

Good news! I know how you feel when you talk about putting it together yourself and hoping things hold, lol

Yea, you have to start to ask your self if you checked everything like you should have.

Even after all the time I spent in the garage, checking everything ten times, I have to ask myself if I checked "everything" . LOL

The oil leak is at the rear of the motor for sure. After 46 miles of driving and testing today the car only has some oil on the pan, trans pan, and a little on the x pipe. After the drive it left a 2" spot on the drive after a 2hr cool down.

The car should be pretty sick, I have only started to feel the power and granted , I have been out of the car for a while, It feels very strong.

You're doing a great job bro! I feel the same way sometimes when I'm pushing the car on the dyno or down the track. I didn't assemble the short block but I did assemble everything else with my friend that does this for a living. I was more worried about the heads lifting than anything since I torque the arp head studs lol. Even had a waste gate failure and hit 30psi once lol.

You're doing great and this is bringing back memories I haven't thought of in a while!

Your oil leak is either your rear main seal, damaged oil slinger(most likely), or the rtv on the rear main seal cover is not a constant bead. Feel the engine side of the flywheel and see if it is oily, if so then most likely the oil slinger.

I had oil on the back of the oilpan, so I am hopeing it is the pan. If not then you are correct and I will just put a redneck diaper on it (towel folded and straped to the motor/trans) till the tuning is done and I am ready to swap to the 127550 cams and just pull the motor and take care of all of it at once. That is another advantage of having an empty engine bay, easy motor removal. I also am seeing the TC flash to about 4900 rpm on the datalog pulls. I was looking for a 3800 stall but it seems to be a little loose. I would like to do some more driving to see if I want to tighten up the stall some or not.

You can run John Deere hy-guard and it will tighten the converter some. Could be from 150-400 rpm tighter depending on torque and converter multiplication. I'd call lentech first to make sure that is okay, but it is pretty common with race cars.

After looking this evening, I may have a leak at the rear seal plate. There is no oil on the flexplate and there is on the back of the block and seperator plate and at the base of the trans. case that seeps onto the back of the oilpan. Maybe I should have kept the MMR seal plate! LOL!!!

Are you sure its not the tranny vent because the lentech vents and dumps out the top and it runs right down the front and looks like a rear seal deal...any fluid at the round hole in the bottom front of the tranny?

Yes ,there is a little but it is definitely oil. That is for sure. There is no trans. fluid leaking.

Looks like for time being, I may have cought a break. I checked and there is no oil on the flexplate. It looks like it is coming from the rear of the pan. I checked the two rear bolts and I could turn them some. I hope this is it ! For now I have tightened the bolts and added a make shift diaper so I could continue testing tomorrow.

Good to hear! Kinda funny when you think about it...your car is kind-of re-born and you're putting a diaper on it...just like a new baby.

just asking, is the rear main oil galley cup plug in place (even though this should leak into the crankcase, inside the rear seal retainer plate - not an external oil leak and engine would have low oil pressure), what type of sealant did you use on the rear seal retainer plate. Also did you run a bead of sealant across the block to seal retainer plate joint before installing the oil pan.

The plug is in place, mine actually is a screw in plug threaded into the block. I used black rtv on the plate and across the rear of the pan. I also used a new seal. I think it is good now. I will pull the diaper off and inspect it this week. I did some driving today and one good pull for Lito.

My 12 rib 4.3 pulley was slipping on the last pull last week. I tightened up the belt and made a new pull today. I hit 24 psi at 6400 rpms!!!

That will put the 3.9 in the 27-30 psi range. I am going to contact Innovators West and get a new pulley coming for the pump gas tune.

Good new is the car is running very well and the boost starts very early. I am at 4psi at 2600 rpms, 13 at 4000, and 18 at 5500. The throttle is very responsive and I cannot remember the car feeling this responsive ever.

I will have to redo my evac setup when the time comes to put it to use. The fittings that are located where the vct solenoids used to be are seeing a lot of oil. I feel the evac setup will suck it into the hose. I will address that later.

I am still on the fac ign. system with the MSD COPs in place and am seeing no blowout with the plugs gaped at .032. I have not engaged the MSD Dis4 setup yet.

So far I am loving the power. I cant remember the car ever feeling this strong. Furthermore I cant believe I am getting traction for these pulls (2200-6800 in 2nd gear). I have the air pressure on the DRs at 20 psi . and the D-specs set -2 turns from full firm on all four corners. With the car in third if I mash the gas the car does break loose some though. Nice part is it stays strait when it does it and the drs catch up and hook.
