does anyone know where the ground is for the instrument cluster for the my color system. Is it tied in to the grounds with the headlights and fog lights on the radiator support or is there another what my car is doing is that my cluster is flickering when the lights are on. I had a faulty sjb and replaced it on Thursday and fixed all my problems but this.

the cluster has a single electrical connection for the entire unit. I dont know if has a separate ground... but you could check that connection

There is a ground under the dash below where the radio is, there is also an ECU there too.

Umm, I'm not sure what it all controls besides the engine and such. I just know that I had to move mine while cutting to fit the new transmission in. I think the gauge cluster gets most of its info from the ecu though, same as plugging your hand held tuner in and getting info for data logging, its the same info.

The engine.

Ah, no. The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is located under the hood on the passenger side bolted to a bracket on the BEC (Bussed Electrical Center). Inside the car, there are a few additional modules, but they are NOT PCM/ECU modules:

1) SJB (Smart Junction Box) - This thing controls a LOT of what goes on inside the car. It is the interface between the PCM and pretty much everything else, including the instrument cluster to the window switches. It is in the passenger foot well.
2) Restraints Control Module (seat belts and such) - This box is under the dash right at the center console below the radio stack.
3) Climate Control Module (take a wild guess) - Also under the dash at the center console below the radio stack.
4) Accessory Relay Box 1 - A couple of high power relays inside the car. This thing is located beside the instrument cluster under the dash.
5) ABS Controller Module - Under the hood.

Lots of "black boxes" (I guess most of them are actually bare aluminum these days!), but there is only ONE PCM/ECU on our cars.

Haha thanks, I just know there was a box there wasn't so sure what it was for though.

There is a hell of a lot more going on in these cars than there used to be! Did you know that not only do we have a high speed data bus and a low speed data bus, but a MEDIUM speed bus as well? All so all these little boxes can talk to each other at the required bandwidth without getting in each others way. It's slick, but it is a real bitch when you have electrical problems!
