I'm looking for opinions for my next toy. I'm thinking of either a 2008 GT500 or a Factory Five '33 Hot Rod with a 4.6 3v and a 3650 trans. It would probably be a turbo setup on the FFR aswell. Both would run me around $30-$35k. Opinions

Ps. I've already had a turbo '07, nitrousd 2011 5.0 and a 347 nitrousd FFR cobra(built to sell nut played with it for a while before it sold)

The thing with a turbo 3v FFR hot rod we are talking 500rwhp at roughly 2800-3000lbs with me in it. My turbo 07 had 513whp and would nose out my buddies 2.8l kenne bell GT500. The FFR cobra only made 413whp and went 10.9 in Albuquerque spinning hard

I would like to see one of the kit cars in person to see what kind of quality is there but I think it would be badass to build one. I don't think I would go with a 4.6 though, I would probably drop dart block 427 in it.

I checked out about 4 of them at last years SEMA and the build quality of their frames and everything are well built. As with any fiberglass body they are hit and miss. I've already got the drivetrain out of an '06 GT that only had 12k miles on it before it was totaled. And I'm sure Jim at Turbohorsepower would gladly build a turbo kit for it

If it won't take too much work with the body, that's definitely the way I would go since it would be a fun project and a one of a kind when you were done. I guess it all comes down to the time frame you want and whether you would enjoy building the car. I think I would enjoy the build more than the actual driving of it.

I did all the paint and body work on the FFR cobra kit I did and I sent back 2 sets of doors and the first hood before I got acceptable fiberglass pieces from them. The molds just wear out and the tolerances and fitment go out the window

I don't really mind how long it takes to build it. I just want it to be right when it's done. The cobra body wasn't too bad it was the doors an hood that were the problem areas. I've read the new hot rod body is pretty good the day you get it. I'm looking at something like this with around 500rwhp

I really enjoyed building the cobra but driving it was a blast. It's the only car I regret selling so far. When the nitrous hit depending on the road conditions that car got pretty scary. That car was built to be an all out street fighter. My next car I just want a cool weekend cruiser for the wife and I

I always thought the cobra kit would be badass since they weigh in at a little over 2,000 pounds if I remember right. Sounds to me that you know which direction you are leaning towards.

It was a super light car it even ran good with a stock 5.0 for a very short time. I really leaning towards the FFR because there's alot of GT500s around Albuquerque but I don't thing there is a single FFR hot rod in town to my knowledge. The only advantage to the Gt500 for me right now is the availability of financing

I'd love to do one with a blown 5.0 but that puts it way out of budget. I've already got a 3v with trans so that save me a bunch an I know where there's a built rear end for a good price. So if I do get one it will be 3vpowered till I get the bugs worked out then the turbo goes on

There's a couple builds on there using the 3v on there, I haven't seen any using the 6060 6 speed yet

That looks like the route I'll be going with. Hot Rod with Four link suspension, powdercoated frame, tilt column and some newer tech goodies that I've seen at SEMA and a local racers shop. Hopefully the bodywork isn't much worse than the FFR cobra I did a few years back

Are you going to go with the roadster or the hard top? I like those bike fenders the best...
