Guys....Major problem.....

I dont have time to search right now, so Im not sure if it has been covered...but on my way to work this morning i hear water dripping in my car! Windows are up. I get to a gas station and start looking around with a flashlight and I see water dripping fromn under my passanger side dash! I get under the dash and see that the water is comming out of the blower box. And when I get on the gas the water pours out like someone is pissing in my car. My floor is fucking soaked....Now I can understand why the other day I had my a.c. on and condensation was forming around my vents! Have any of you ever had this problem? What am I to do ? Im assuming Im going to have to take my blower box off somehow and drain all the water out of it. But why is this happening?? I can post pictures later after work. Thanks in advance!!!

I hate that this has happend to you but this is a VERY common issue with our cars. If I am not mistakin, I think there might even be a TSB out covering this same issue.

Open your hood and reach behind the driver's side valve cover. On the firewall you will find a rubber flap grommet thing that's about 1" wide and 3.5" long. Pull it out because it is clogged with leaves. Leave it out, do not reinstall it.

I had this problem. You gotta clean out the drain holes is all. Not a major issue.

yep this happened to me only 3.5 months after i bought my car new! A new freaking car shouldnt be leaking! It is funny because I bought used in the past and had interior leak like that too (not a Mustang), so I was like OK, a new car wont leak.. LOL!!

Today was the second time I've had this problem - the day after Irene was the first.

Thanks for the clear description of where to find that plug - I'm at the office in good clothes and not the least bit inclined to go crawling over and under everything trying to find it.

FWIW, I'm very tempted to just cut the grommet a little short or otherwise modify it, rather than leave it off entirely.

I was shown the grommet when I was getting my windshield replaced. Mine didn't have any leaves in it but the glass guy said that they would often get complaints about a windshield leaking and it was always that grommet. I pulled it out and stuck it in the trunk before it could become a problem. The only reason it is there is to prevent any possible wind noise, but I have not experienced any from leaving it out. If I ever can think of any reason to stick it back in I'll do it.

When I pulled mine at lunch, it was packed solid-volume-full with dirt and the decaying remains of these little granules that fall off the trees. About a cup of water followed.

I was wondering if it had something to do with making it harder for any engine compartment fumes to get sucked into the cabin, because it does want to mostly close up the slit just sitting there on the desk.

But it needs to be able to open wider, sooner/quicker, with less weight.

If your car is running properly then there shouldn't be any fumes leaking off the motor. On the other hand, if you do smell something then you can stop and figure out what the problem is before it gets worse.

I agree, there shouldn't be. But the CO part is colorless/odorless/tasteless so you might not know. I'm pretty sure it's the HC that you actually smell.

Well if you remove the plug and the car sits for a spell you could get bees in that area. Bees will get into just about anyplace.

Huh? I'm sure if you try hard enough, you can make up all sorts of reasons why you shouldn't remove the plug. Of course whether any of them have any merit is another matter. Enjoy your wet, moldy carpet.
