i know here in ky if there is a lien on the car the insurance company will pay the body shop directly to repair with oem, if no lien on the car the check will be made out directly to you to do with what you please.

When I lived in Plano and my old mustang got hail damage Allstate made the check out to me, car wasn't paid off. I bought a bigass tv with the money.

Well it's good that y'all only got hail and not a twister. We got about 10 min of heavy rain here in Austin.
We did have twisters. There were 4 at least that I heard were reported. I work in the 18th fl in Downtown Dallas and we had one head up 35 towards us. It veered to the east a little and missed our building by a couple of miles. They had us get in the stairwells for about 15 mins until it passed.

Well, tomorrow is the day when I drop my baby off at the body shop for repair due to last week's weather. If my bodyshop guy can pull it off, this is what I'm looking to do. Let me know what you guys think:

Hood if replaced = 3 inch Cowl
Damaged spolier = GT500 spoiler
Chin spoiler as a bonus if possible.

This should make my car even better than before.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks man. I got approval to go ahead and order the GT500 spoiler since it has to be replaced on my ride. So that part is done :boobies:

Once he gets the final numbers, I'm pushing for the cowl hood..

Stay tuned...

Definately wouldn't hurt to talk to your agent and see what you can do.

I did get a damage claim with my insurance company, but of course it is a low-ball number that requires the body shop to go back to them for more money as it won't cover everything. I got approval from the shop to order the spoiler as it has to be replaced anyway, and the cost is cheaper than they can do it.
I just need to wait for approval before ordering a hood to see if the insurance will cover it...never hurts to try..if I can squeeze it in, I want to get a chin spoiler as well. :)

ins company should replace the hood. its aluminum.
my body shop as soon as they saw my hood damage from a accident they said replacement due to the will never get the hood 100% back right.
and factory hood is like $1300 where as a kaneen cowl like i got was $575.
saves everyone coin.

That's what I'm talking about. My hood has at least 50 dings in it, and some are on the seams of the hood where they can't get to it. I told my body repair guy that I can get the hood from americanmuscle.com for $539 and have it shipped direct from them. he can make a little money and I can get the hood that I want. I just ordered the GT500 spoiler today.

man, we get these hail storms in the DFW area every spring..this one was really bad. I'm just capitalizing on the damage..lol..I'm surprised you don't get it in Houston, or is that just flooding.

Just come to Dallas during a storm like this and leave it in the parking lot. hahaha

It doesn't even flood where I live. I might just have to come up there for that or get vandalized . Rather not though .

Nah, it's not worth the hassle. I've dodged these storms for years and got lucky until now. I would rather have my ride back. Driving an eclipse rental with 2000 miles on it and it's already rattling and plastic falling off of it..having a hard time imagining driving it for 3 weeks! :omfg:
