Handling Upgrde

I'm looking to improve the the handling of my 2007 GT. Mainly eliminating the under steer and wheel hop. I heard sway bars decrease the under steer and control arms help with the wheel hop. I'm not looking to track my car often just improve overall driving experience on the road. And advice or suggested brands would be very helpful. I'm not looking to spend over $1000 so noting to crazy.

Well hop covered many times, search please. Short answer is LCA/UCA upgrade. Brands, BMR and Steeda

Welcome to the forum.

You want to decrease wheel hop? BMR Lower Control Arms (LCA) and relocation brackets.

What are your goals as far as "handling"? Do you open track or autocross the car? Or do you just drive spiritedly on back roads?

I put the Eibach Pro System Plus in my 06 GT vert plus and on the rear FRPP Shelby GT lower control arms. Improved handling immensely and no rear whl hop or sag on launch. Mines a weekend worrier. I love the difference and the performance.

Basically the same as above. I have Steeda lowering springs. BMR lower control arms with drop brackets. And while it will blow your budget...good tires. I have 19" wheels with Michelin tires all around. Compared to stock it feels glued to the road.

Thanks for the feedback I'm mainly going to be driving back roads for fun but eventually want to get into autocross. I'm in college so trying to balance my time and money between car stuff and school.

Now I have Pirelli p zero Nero on my cars stock 18's not crazy about them I get wheel chirps in turns all the time. Probably gonna upgrade to some Nitto's or Mickey Thompson's in a wider tire. Gotta do some research on which rim still.

I have the Nitto 555G2 on my car. So far very pleased with them.

Winter though I will put the Nitto Motivo back on the car. The 555G2 is a summer tire.

There are so many ways you can go with improving the handling of your Mustang, but I would vote for wheels and tires, with 18 X 10 wheels all around. Forgestars are an amazing value for wheels (rotary forged construction, without the price of true forged wheels), but they may be a little expensive for a college budget. Search the forums for a set of used ones that haven't been beat to death. AMRs and SVE Drifts are good, less expensive alternatives that are available in 18 X 10. For tires, all I can say is that I had a set of Continental Extreme Contact DW tires in 285/45/18 (IIRC), and I loved them! I currently have BFG Sport Comp 2s, and they are good tires for the money as well, I just don't like them quite as much as I did my Conti's.

If you are lowered (or are going to lower your car), LCAs with poly bushings and LCA relocation brackets are good bang for the buck.

Wheel hop is eliminated or greatly reduced by installing a set of LCAs. Because your car is lowered, I would recommend installing a set of LCA relocation brackets as well. With the LCAs angled up towards the axle, you're really hindering your ability to hit the tires and get traction. Instead of being planted into the pavement, the axle is actually being lifted up.

If you feel like the car is pushing too much, I think wheels and tires would be a great first step. Adding more front grip will help to reduce that feeling of understeer. Alternatively, you could install a stiffer rear sway bar. I think tires are the smarter choice for now.

BMR LCAs = $140 (Not including Forum discount if there is one)

These are retail prices and prices may vary if he is willing to buy used parts.

Hell, he might even get to buy some lowering springs too if he plays his cards right..
