So I'm putting together a long block to replace my
Blown motor . I am building forged setup this summer
When more funds are available. So I remove my blown motor and the
Driver side head is destroyed . So I find a replacement head with around 60k to replace The damaged one. The shortblock has 15 k and I will be using my other head from the blown motor and that head only has 30k on it . So now to get to my Question iS should I send the heads out for a valve job or would I be ok to use the heads the way they are? The weather is getting nice and I want to get this car going again!

I would make sure the heads are from similar years. The newer heads require different COP's and plugs. If they are the same, then the difference in mileage shouldn't have any affect but I would go ahead and have them cleaned up and do a valve job on them, if it were my build.

Yes they are from the same year . Any idea what a valve job will cost?

IMO the most important thing will be flatness. The Ford spec is no more than .001" variation in 1.5". I use a Starrett machinists level for a straight edge because it's handy. Certified straight edges are available though and some day I'll get one. Use the straight edge and a feeler gauge that has been checked for proper thickness with a measuring tool.

I use a .0015" feeler that measures about .0013". If it sticks or slips under the straight edge then I'll measure at a smaller length than the 6" straight edge.

I'm not sure if that explains it or not. It would be real easy to demonstrate. So far so good, all of my heads have been within tolerance. You also want to check the block deck in the same manner. If your head or block needs resurfacing make sure that your chosen machine shop can hold the tolerance for a mls head gasket.
