Looking to install the axles, fill with fluid, & install diff cover tom, looking for tips! Installed new bearings and seals, painted, new bump stops, new 3.73’s, pained axle ends (lugs were rusted to them). Attempted gear install myself, failed! Gear shop said machine shop installed wrong spacer behind pinion bearing. I used yellow to check my pattern, guess his is blue, all looks smeared to me. Not sure what I’m really looking at. Few questions…

1. Need to clean it out….just spray brake cleaner down the tubes then spray out with air hose?

2. Do I need to grease the axle bearings or just add gear oil to them?

3. Do I need to rub grease around the outside of the axle where it meets the seal?

4. What kind of grease if any?

5. When I install the diff cover…use the seal it came with or gasket sealant?

6. Need to get new wheel studs….LMR has 10 for $25 stock length. Will stock length fit most all wheels? AM crossfire ar924’s are what I’m looking at

1 Cleaning is never a bad idea.

2,3,4 - I use a dab of gear oil to pre-lube.

5 - Your option.

use the gasket.... together with a good sealant. like "Reinzosil" fromVictor Reinz. So the rear end cover never will leak again. For sure.

I installed a differential cover like that on my 5.0 foxbody. Definitely use some sort of thread sealer on all the plugs. Maybe teflon tape or teflon dope.
