previous best 60' time was a 1.94 with 4.10's. since going to 4.33's and installing a line lock (to heat the tires a little more) i pulled a 1.86... leaving above 3500 rpm causes (so far) too much tire spin. even on my quickest run friday on my 12.92 pass i had a quite a bit of spin with 1.95 60' time. there's a couple vids in the video section http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14270

i had a 1.88 and a 1.86 in the 1/8 before they opened the track up to full passes. those runs would probably resulted in at least 12.8 passes had they been a full 1320.

without doing more motor mods or re-tuning, fi, or n2o, what would be the best way to consistently improve my 60' times. i'm not really interested in having to slip the clutch out because i'm hoping to gain enough consistency in my reaction times and 60' times to start a little bracket racing. (i'm willing to lose a little e.t. for consistency's sake, but not much)

should i look for a set of d specs? or perhaps drag launch springs(don't like that option, don't really want to raise the car up)? perhaps a taller front tire to get the nose of the car up a little? the sway bar is removed, however no real weight reduction has taken place up front. K member? prothane mounts? move the battery to the trunk? any mod i make i hope to make a significant different, not just 1 or 2 100ths

now i wish i had gone to 4.56's instead of 4.33's.

all opinions are welcome, however motor mods right now aren't part of the picture....

With a stick, you will have to get use to slipping that clutch. That's the only way i've been able to get a 1.70 60 foot with my street tires and 20's. Seems like 3000 rpm's is too low and 3500 is too high with my whipple. I really probably need to learn to not floor it off the line..:roflmao: I'm subscribing because I need to learn all I can myself.

LCA's? Relocation brackets?

The proper tire pressure can be a deal maker too. Start at 28 PSI and work your way down in 2 or 3 PSI steps til you find the sweet spot. Then, make sure your tire dia. is the same on both sides. Measure from the ground to the top lip of the rim. Adjust air pressure up/down til they are within 1/16" of each other while at or near your target tire pressure. That will help your tires and diff give you the best possible results. Esp if you still have the stock LSD.

I am trying a 28" tall tire and slipping the stage 3 clutch. New setup for me. I'll let you know what happens Saturday.

Good luck...

17 PSI is what I've found to work best in that same tire

I've pulled best of 1.68 60s with them and 4.10s and launching as high as 4700 rpm

sounds like to me your not heating them enough. However, being lowered hurts getting better 60s

yea same here bro i ran my et street radials at 14-15lbs thats where i had my best luck ....also get them good and cooking i found they needed a fairly decent burnout ( at least at our crappy prepped track ) 1.55 60ft. stock suspension except for control arms and relo brackets out back

That was a recommendation I got from the guys at Eaton. I was kinda off-set when I first heard it, but as far as LSD's go, it made since.

radials or bias ply? i think i'd be a little skeered to run radials that low

I have gone as low as 10 PSI without bead locks. For the track that day, seemed to be the right pressure. I did feel like the tires were flat as I rolled to the tree, but they ballooned nice once I launched.
