Well since my Cobra was my first car since I was 15, I've pretty much become tuned into the T45. But I've never owned an automatic car and don't have a lot of experience driving one (and never paid attention to them when I was younger lol). So it's probably a pretty dumb question, but how will I notice it slipping if it is ever so slightly? Just hesitating to shift when it attemps to? The whole drive-by-wire setups noticable throttle delay is already throwing me off lol

One of the bigger PITA issues is spark plugs breaking when you go to change them, search on here or youtube for that.

Depends on the date of build. If built after 11/30/2007 it has the new head design and shouldn't have issues. You can find the build date on the bottom of the build sticker on the door jamb. Remove the first and last four digits and that is the build date in the format of YYYYMMDD.

That's a nice looking car, but way overpriced. I honestly think that's a $6-7k car tops. It is also a base, not premium.

Looks like it would do that in the ring based on MMR. It's a bit high but it's definitely more than a $6-7k car (retail).

C'mon man take your wholesaler hat off for a minute :Big Laugh:

Did anyone actually look at the link? It's a 5r55 car...

The autos aren't the greatest, and cant handle more than 500rwhp even when built. If you can detect even a HINT of slippage going into 3rd gear, walk away.

Dis.

Axe me how I know.

You can also drop the gear indicator into 3 and then mash the throttle. It will either throw you back in the seat or the revs will shoot up and the car barely accelerate. Mine started slipping at 100,666 for what it's worth, but I have absolutely beat the piss out of it for the entire life of the car.. with a ridiculous shift pressure tune and 4.10 gears. I didn't expect it to last this long lol.

Also $9k is way too high for a base GT with that many miles.

Any car I get has to be in trade for my Cobra because I can't afford to take out a $9000+ loan. So on top of having to see if a private seller is even interested in my Cobra, I would have to drive it several hundred miles to where that GT/CS is and I don't really want to do that. There's just not that many options locally and the only trade interests I've had are beat up rebuilt title 5 speed 99-04 GTs and the only cash offers I've gotten on my cobra are $3000 and $3500

Well, it sounds like you've already made up your mind. A couple of us have given you our .02 and I also agree that the car is a little pricey for the mileage. This is coming from someone who sold these for the past 3 years.

So you're wanting to trade your Cobra against it, and pay the rest in cash?

I'd be considering keeping the Cobra, what's wrong with it? Just worn out?

I have made my mind that I want the 2007, but not for its posted price. They will either drop the price down closer to what it's worth or give me more than my Cobra is worth because I won't be buying it for $10,900 lol. I know they've had the car for nearly a year now and it's because no one wants an auto. So I shouldn't have a problem knocking $2000 off the price at least

But nothing is really wrong with my Cobra. I just hate convertibles lol I might put the top down twice a year and thats only because my girlfriend wants me to and I'm tired of driving a 5 speed every single day. Plus im just bored with it and would like to try something new. But it has 148,000 miles so it's value is dropping by the day. Not 3 years ago when I considered selling it then as well, I was offered $6500 from two different buyers. Now I can't even get $4500 for it lol

I hear ya on the vert. Had one. Never again. I can appreciate your logic in them coming off $2,000, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Sure, it's overpriced, but if they had to stand tall in the trade to make a deal with the guy who traded it, the amount they own it for may be higher than normal. Plus, if they've had it for a year, I'm more inclined to think they put more money into it than they should have and they're just waiting to make their money back on it.

Doesn't matter whether they put more in your trade or come off, it's the same bottom line.

There really aren't any other cars in your area?

The only other s197 is a 2008 GT/CS auto with 88,000 miles just down the road from this 2007. But that car lot wants $16,900 for it and there's no way my mom will cosign for one that high. I live in far western Kentucky and the only other nearest reasonably priced s197 I can find is all the way in Memphis or Nashville. I originally planned on trading for a nice New Edge since they're more in my price range but the test drive of this 2007 really caught my interest

Well guys I finally had the owner of the dealership check my Cobra out and he's agreed to give me $5000 for it. Which is great because KBB trade in value is only around $3000. I should be picking up the 2007 tomorrow after work

Good luck hopefully all goes well.

Thanks! I just turned in all the cosigning paperwork stuff and test drove the car for a 3rd time lol I put it in 3rd, mashed it, and the car pulled hard and the rpms didn't rise up so I think the trans is good to go. Now I just have to wait 12-24 hours to know if I'm approved or whatever. Good god this process is taking forever and I'm a nervous wreck over it

Well apparently it only took 45 minutes because they called right after and said I was approved. Just dropped my Cobra off and picked up the GT. Got it for $198 a month
