My car is the white s197 at about 57 seconds in.

It feels like its launching hard, then unloading the suspension and spinning. This was launching at 2500rpm, not using the 2 step. I can't even use the 2 step because it just blows the tires off.

Suspension is stock except for j&m lower control arms
tires 305-40-18 nitto 555r, people seem to be able to get 1.7 60' out of them but im stuck at a 2.1-2.2

Not many people getting 1.7 60' out of 18" Nitoo 555Rs. How long is your burnout? Can't really see much about what your car is doing from that video.

Get rid of the Nittos and get M&H's or Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.

Or drop the 18's in general and get a set of 15" Race Stars for the track only with a set of M/T's or M&H's

Your probably right, I only saw a few people do it. I think the part that got me was the cobra cut a 1.9 on street tires so I know its not track prep.

I do a second gear burnout until I see smoke.

Would mickey thompson drag radials in 18s work a lot better then the nittos? I would switch to bigs and skinnies if I knew I could run them on the street and get around 5k miles out of them. Thats about all I drive in the summer and I expect to buy new tires every year. Do you think a set of stiffer shocks on the rear would help at all? It feels like it hits the bump stop and starts to spin.

With those tires you have to do a longer burnout. They have to really heat up. But my recommendation would be to get a different tire. I could never get mine to hook up. I switched to 17" ET Streets bias-plys and started doing 1.6x 60' consistently.

What size 17s are they?

Yes, the M/T drag radials would be day and night better for you, over those Nitto 555R tires. Bigs and Littles would be ideal and with the race stars, they are load rated for 6,000 lbs and are very street savvy. You'll get some decent mileage out of them. + The 15" selection of tires are so much better and cheaper.

I'd go with a 275/60-15 M/T E.T. Drag Radial on the rear of a 15x10 Racestar wheel. The fronts you can do the 15x3.75 front runners from race star and for the tires you can run an 8 ply dot approved front runner tire. Size would be a 28x7.5x15 sportsman.

I had to heat my 555r's for a good 10 seconds to get my 11.84, and my 60 ft. still sucked. I will not use them again to race, just street use..Its big and littles for me for the track for now on.

I use 265/40/18 ET SR IIs for 1.60 - 1.75 60s.

Your convertible is the reason I have a vortech!
How long do the ET SR IIs last? I would really like to have a tire that I can run all summer, instead of changing them at the track.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I keep looking at the Nitto NT05R. I have yet to really see or hear of anyone running them, or their impressions/60fts on them.

Anyone have first hand knowledge of them? I have to much money left to dump into the car so I am not in the market for big and littles yet.
