Guys I have never did this before, so all coments are welcome. Long story short I had to give up my 08 mustang and get a f150 to haul my family and projects around. I have a 93 mustang sitting out here that is good for nothin but a drag car which is where my heart is at anyways. I am really comforable working on the 4.6 3v engines and I would like to stay with that power plant. How would I go about getting a complete 4.6, with automatic trans and computer on the cheap? How do you go about contacting scrap yards to do this? Most places I have seen (ebay) they know what they have and are asking a premium price for it.

Check out www.car-part.com. It will show you the salvage yards all around the country that have the part you are looking for and their prices. I picked up a complete 3V longblock with wiring and all for $1250.

I bought my wife's 4.6 Expedition motor from LKQ (formerly Green Leaf). I got the motor with a life time warranty for $1400 shipped and it only had around 40K on the dial.

Also, when I blew my motor in the stang a couple years back, I was going to get another from there. It was a 2008 CS/GT 4.6 with 25K on the dial for $1600 shipped with lifetime warranty.

Luckily, turned out Steve Poe also had one for sale that I ended up getting for a bit cheaper.
