..... can I still just utilize stock seat brackets or do I need to mount it to the cage crossbar?

Well I went ahead and ordered a Corbeau seat that will utilize factory mounting points, hope it will be OK. Was going to just get a Kirkey but this car will see more street than track and comfort is key.

Not 100% sure, but I believe you will be required to bolt the seat to the cage. Try searching for NHRA rule book

Well I know you're supposed to for an 8.50 car but I'm not planning on going that fast. I couldn't find anything for a 9.99 car but the rule book can be a little confusing sometimes. Was kinda hoping someone knew offhand, figured they're enough racers in here, I'm just a weekend warrior.

I know of one car (Mustang) at out local track that is running 8.90's with no cage. IHRA sanctioned. Last year they told him he could not run 1/4 any more, but they can still run 1/8. He clicked off a 4.98 @ 139 on his first pass in the 1/8. I know not much help, just thought I would throw that out there.

I agree. Meeting him the first time was actually a funny story. I'll tell it some time.

4 bolts to the floor and a minimum of one bolt thru the seat to the crossbar.

You need that for a 9.9 car?

That's what the rule book says

Well I guess I will cancel the Corbeau order and get a Kirkey from Jegs. Thanks.

Yeah, I just found it too. The rulebook can be a little tedious to scroll through. Thanks. Says any car requiring a cage or bar must have the seat anchored to it by at least on bolt. What is odd is that I see plenty of roll bar cars with stock seats, at least at my local track. I'm going to do it right though because I would hate to drive down to Bakersfield or something and not pass tech.

After talking with Corbeau and finally hearing back from the NHRA I stayed with my original seat purchase and will be getting a plate to bolt to the back for the cross bar attachment.

Did you finish this install and if so, can you post a picture? So the seat was a direct bolt in with no muss or fuss?
    Thank you

I know I cant run into the 9s whotbout needing a license. And if I would hypothetically run into the 9s, the track would not let me run again. My bike is capable of 9s. :)
