I'll be installing UDP's on my Automatic next week and have a few q's.

The instructions from Steeda mention that for autos you need to hold the torque converter with a 14mm wrench to keep it from rotating when tightening the crankshaft pully down.

Do you really have to or can you just tighten it down with a impact gun?

Does anyone have any pics of where to access the torque converter?

What did you do for your UDP install?

TIA

There's no cheating here, you have to remove the round rubber access cup to hold the TC. I have some pics at home that I'll post this afternoon unless someone beats me to it.

I'm with Roper on this... banging on the pulley with an impact wrench is just ASKING for problems. There are just no shortcuts with this one. It's STILL not that hard, though. I'll admit that I paid a shop to do mine, but the guy did it all himself from underneath. Very doable on jackstands.

Damn, can't find the exact pic I was looking for but I did locate this. I flipped the pic over for a better perspective. The cup is black and made of plastic. Grab a flashlight and crawl up right behind the driver's side front wheel and you should be able to see it. It just pulls out towards the front of the car.

Damn, I just realized I'll have to go through this again when I take mine off. :beerdrink:

Thanks for all the help. Install went smoothly yesterday. Here's a couple of pics of the Torque converte access plug and the bolt you have to hold while torquing the the crank pulley.
