Hi, my name is Rich. Having owned numerous Mustangs over the years, and after 19 years of not owning one, the Mustang bug really bit me again. I just settled on a nice 2008 GT.
I came here to see what's currently going on in the world of Mustangs, especially the S197 models, and gather more information about 2008 GT mods, issues, etc.
I still love the classic Mustangs but believe I'm going to be very happy with my GT.

Congratulations! Nice color, too.

Best to give an idea of what condition the car is in, or history, for issue advice.

For mods....what's on your mind?

Thanks, I like the color as well. The car just turned 76k miles and is in great condition. It's got good service history and appears to have been well taken care of.
The car came with a AFE Magnum force CAI. Data plate shows 3:55 gears. It runs great and pulls pretty good. I have an SR Performance axle back coming. Plans in 2026 are for a throttle body upgrade and a tuner, probably Bama. That might be sufficient as far as performance upgrades goes.

This will be the start of a very long love affair. Ask me how I know!
Upgrading the throttle body on these cars is a waste of money unless you're going to add a positive displacement supercharger or go for a maximum effort N/A build. I'd also stay far away from BAMA for tunes. Brenspeed tunes are OK but the 3V tuning god is Lito ([email protected]).
I suggest you read these pages on my site (or just browse the whole site :D ) to gain some inspiration.

Welcome to the s197 forum, congrats & good luck with the 08.
Good luck with your mod plans, there are a lot better options than Bama for a tune..

Welcome from Baton Rouge. Great choice of car and great color [ask me how I know that only 913 (of the ~24,000) 2008 GT hardtops were painted ZY (Vapor Silver)]. I totally agree with the tuner comments. I have had several cars/trucks tuned by 5* and am completely happy, but when I add the blower, I'm going with Lito.

Welcome from Germany.
My best mods are noise dampening and undertray aerodynamic plates. I wish I did them in the first month. No one needs air and tire noise on the Autobahn.
Next is sway bars and the rear LCAs with spherical PU bushings.
The BamaV2 tunes are totally fine and the tunes for life makes changes of parts very easy. But, I wish I have the knowledge to do it myself with a HPTuner (and the time)

Never saw a silver GT before . Looks real good . Mine is black .. never liked to habe black cars , but what counts in these days is the status of the car .. maintenance , milage , carfax

Wish you a lot of happy miles with your beauty

Welcome. Beautiful car!

The biggest bang for the buck I've had is underdrive pulleys. You need the harmonic balancer puller that works on Chryslers & GM. It has three arms.

Welcome from Idaho. I too had a 2008 GT, mine was a convertible. Watching all the issues with the S197 I always felt when the 2008 came out Ford had found the remedies and corrected them. I loved my 2008 but I also like the premium interior and the 08 didn't have it. So ended up buying a 2012. Both cars are great but love the engine in the 2012
