Kenne bell blower not producing boost

Hey all I've installed a kenne bell blower on my 2005 gt and last night I took her for the first rip around the block. I'm idling at a 20 vacuum and under throttle it gets to 10 vacuum. I'm not getting any boost. In fact I feel like my car may be slower now than before. It is quite frustrating after 23 hours in a cold garage.

Anyone have any ideas what could be going on with it or what I should be looking for????

I have verified it's not in valet mode.

Thanks in advance

I checked (looked at it) Kenne Bell says they are almost never an issue. When I move the float on it I can hear vacuum being created.

Is there anything specific I should be looking at?

The car has a cat free X Pipe, flowmaster outlaw series and the 2.6L Kenne Bell kit with a 10 PSI pulley. I have a stock Kenne Bell tune from DB performace with some timing backed out based on my gas where i live. Not sure if any of this is relevant but I figured I would float it out there.

Please any advice would go a long way. I am at a total loss

longshot - did you check the action of the blower before you installed it? meaning, spin the snout and see the screws turn

Yes. Snout was rebuilt before install. Pulley is new and screws spin perfectly

If the rotors are spinning there's only a couple things it can be. Either the BPV isn't hooked up correctly or you forgot to install the belt. I would assume you'd notice the belt missing. I'd check all your vacuum lines. Did you check BPV operation with the car running? Have someone rev the car while you watch the arm. It should move when they rev it. Also, where did you hook up the boost gauge? Even without boost it should get closer to 0 under WOT.

I wouldn't worry about the power yet. If you're running a tune for boost with no boost it's going to be extremely slow. Plus your tuner probably has it on the safe side right now.

Yeah i though the BPV also but Kenne Bell says they are the last to fail. I have a belt on and the blower is spinning and the car is running ok, just no power. I would say the car feels slightly slower than stock. I can't chearp second gear which is a joke with a blower.

I am thinking vacuum leak or something but I see nothing out of place. All my lines are new and hooked up. I have watched the arm move while reving. I am not sure how much it moves but i would say mine swings 3/8 -1/2 of an inch. I spliced into the vacuum line right off of the BPV for the boost

I havn't bugged Danny as of yet as he has asked me to trouble shoot this before we go to a meaner tune. I also want to get my wideband installed prior to talking to danny.

When you rev the car that valve should slam shut, probably a full inch and a half of travel on mine.

You could tie it closed and go for a quick rip, instant diagnosis. Should even be able to see the difference revving in neutral with it open vs. closed. My boost gauge goes from vac to boost when I free rev the car.

sounds like vac leak.

doesn't the 2.6 have vac ports on the manifold right above cylinder 1?

its better to not to pull boost signal off the bypass line, use the manifold to get the signal.

So talking to Kenne Bell today they do not think there is a vac leak since I am getting so much vacuum. I will be running a couple tests and will report back. I hope to solve this sucker....

Also a side note I have not mentioned is the car falls on it's face at 2000 rpm. Kenne Bell thinks this may be unrealated and may be a tune issue since Danny backed timing out of it to be safe.

Captain obvious here, but did you reload the tune just to make sure you are not on the stock tune?

Have you been able to do a fully loaded pull? Something in a higher gear (4th is a good one) and lower rpm start before wot? That's where you will see the most boost.

Yes I've done 4 pulls. Getting into 4th gear 5000 rpm I hit 3 ish psi of boost so a long way from the 10 I should be getting. The tune is loaded correctly and the insta pump is working, or so I'm told. Kenne bell says that is way it's falling on its face. Too much fuel and no boost to support it

I'm thinking either the belt is slipping although I see no sign of this or a bad valve. Now I need to figure out how to proof which it is????

From everything you're saying I'm leaning towards the BPV. I'd do like eighty6gt said and pull the line to the BPV and take it for a spin.

..make sure it closes. If it's hanging up, it will stay open. These things are kind of flaky, finicky.

FWIW Whipple recommended checking the bpv once a year for proper operation. They are known to go out.

So last night I did a test of pulling off the vacuum line opening the BPV valve plugging the vacuum port with my fingure. IT should stay open I am told. Mine slammed shut meaning the float is not opperating fully???

Kenne Bell is sending me a new one either way so my figures are crossed

Anytime my blower didn't make boost it was because either there was something keeping the arm from moving for the bypass valve or there was another object that had been placed where the arms moving.

I had a shop put a vacuum line near the arm and Ott screwed the movement up and when I first installed it I had the host clamp attached in a way that prevented movement.
