I have been tihinking about getting the new 2.8L from Kenne Bell when it is introduced to the public. Initially I was going to have my block built at the same time but I cant at the moment due to a law suite against my body shop. I plan on building my block in approx. a year. So my questions are

1. can I use the 2.8L with a stock block without blowing it up or should I get the 2.6L?

2. If so would it be efficient since the blower is going to spin slower?

3. With the 2.8L or 2.6L what 1/4 mile times should I expect? (Average driver, 5 spd, full exhaust, and 373)

4. What options should I get? I know I want polished with the 8 rib. Is there anything else I can get?

5. Whats the most RWHP you would recommend and what pully would I need?

6. Is there anything else I would need such as clutch, diff. gears, etc.

Thanks for the help.

1. I would say NO because the stock motor will not support the amount of HP the 2.8L kit will make, unless they have a pulley that will make around 10 psi. but spinning the blower that slow will only hurt performance.
2. Probably not.
3. I would say with the 2.6L and good tires should be low 12's to mid 11's
4. Upgrade injectors for when motor is built, a GT500 fuel system.
5. The 3.75" is 10 psi. the 3.5" is 12 psi.
6. Deifinetly a clutch maybe a Spec 3+, Detroit Tru Trac, and the 3.73 should be fine.

The 2.8L kit is meant to be a Competition kit, it is being designed to make big HP. I am not sure if it will make a tame amount of boost for a stock motor and you would be spinning it so slow that it will not be very efficient. I think they are designing the kit for 20+ psi.

I have to agree with what 05maustng_kb_charged and get the 2.6L. The same would be true if you wanted the 3.4L whipple for the stock block instead of the 2.3L....JMO J

1. Go with the 2.6L, can still boost it up to 25psi, so lots of room to go

2. 2.6L is pretty effecient, even more so for a street driver.

3. Low 12's , maybe high 11's, mid 12's easy

4. Spec 3+

5. 10psi should give right around 480 rwhp.

6. I needed clutch, bigger tires, and felt the need to upgrade the brakes (hawk pads are nice improvement and cheap). Drive shaft is nice too.
