Today I replaced the valve seals in my #6 cylinder since there was some oil on that plug but only 5% leak down. I got everything RnR'd then when I reinstalled the followers on the intake valves it made the valves open just a hair, I removed and reinstalled them several times and had the same result, is this normal? The only thing I can think of is the lash adjuster expanded a bit when the followers were removed, then when I reinstalled them the added height opened the valves slightly. The exhaust valve did not do this. However for curiosity sake I RnR'd an intake follower from #5 (didn't do anything to this cylinder other than remove and replace the follower) and has the exact same result so I'm thinking this is typical, but some peace of mind would be nice before I crank it again, if anyone knows about this? And no the motor did not turn over while I was working on it..

Were you on the bottom of the lobe or was it on the ramp? I've used a vice to "bleed" them down.

Bottom of the lobe, you could wiggle them before I removed them, but not after reinstalling. I had the piston at TDC on compression stroke to keep it pressurized during the process.

After thinking about this all night, and not coming up with any other logical explanation I cranked it this morning and all is well. Evidently this is normal, if anyone else ever runs into this. I did another leak down test just to be sure and it was all good 5%, actually closer to 4% this time.
