Long crank when hot only

This is my first post sadly it comes when im experncing a problem with my stang.OK its a 08 mustang gt 5 speed completly stock(unfortunatley) and ive noticed twice this week that when i come outside for lunch at work and the car has been sitting in the sun its hard to start,only happend twice only when hot outside.When parking overnight and starting car in morning no problem.Once i get car started and shutoff again ,it will start right up.Anybody else experince this or know of anything like this any help greatly appreciated.thanks

Car only has 38,XXX do u know specifiacally what it wrong with the filter,also not calling u wrong thanks for the help just wanna be sure

Fuel filters are supposed to be replaced every 30k. That wouldn't be a bad place to start. Also clean your throttle body and MAF sensor and see if that helps any. Always a good idea to start with the basics.

Any CEL's or anything? Running ok otherwise?

Nothing else car runs fine ,didnkt know they recommend filters every 30k,wanna do it on my own has anybody done it or know the diffculty if any behind it thanks in advance.

Not hard at all. It's under plastic cover on the driver side frame rail. You will need the fuel line disconnect tools though. You can grab them at you LAPS.

No tools needed to disconnect the lines. You press in on the green tabs and the filter pulls out/off the hose.

The biggest PITA is getting the black cover off, with the various bolts, nuts, and push-pins that hold it on.

And be prepared for fuel to come out of the filter and lines when you unhook it; its normal.

LAPS = local auto parts store.
Mine needed the tool to disconnect. First time should take about 20 mins to 1/2 hour. Don't let the dealership charge you 50 bucks for this simple job.No smoking.

and i wouild add, get your filter from ford. I got a fram and it leaked from the seams.

Advance sells Motorcraft as well. That's where I get mine from. I think it was like 12 bucks.

As far as the disconnect tools go, I would have them handy justttt incase. I have done some that required them and some don't (like stated above). I can't remember what years/engine make the difference though. Hell, I can't even remember what style mine where..lol. I have done to many different ones.

Wal Mart sells Motorcraft as well and is usually cheaper than the LAPS.

Thanks for all the help from everybody,im gonna check out the local walmart i want the motorcraft one thanks,is there a sepcial disconnct tool or will a generic one work.I dont think it will be difficult for me to do since im a bmw tech and have a lift to use appreciate everybodys input.

there is one type with two sizes on it at Pep boys for about $5 . I have also seen sets there of 4 or 5 sizes for under $10 in the tool aisle.
This is much easier then changing the headlight bulbs [you won't need elf size hands to do this] on a BMU so it should be no problem to you.

As mentioned piece of cake. I "think" somewhere in late '07 to '08 is when things changed to where you don't need a tool but I'm not sure either.

How much longer is it taking? if it's just a couple cranks, I would think that's pretty normal. A lot of my cars have done this. When the motor is hot/warm, it takes a couple extra cranks to start whereas when it's cold, it starts right up. Did the same in my previous car when I got a brand new motor swapped in too.
