Just replaced an O2 sensor and went for a datalog drive. When I was pulling back in to the garage I heard a loud metal noise. Almost like you had ran over something and it popped up against something under the car. Couldn't tell where the noise came from, just heard it.

Anyway, got out of the car and as I was walking around the back of the car found this laying in the driveway. Came off the car somewhere, but be damned if I can find where it came from. It was warm, but by no means hot so I don't think it came from the engine compartment anywhere. Looked under the hood and all the pulley and idler bolts are still there. It's not a header bolt. Not an exhaust flange bolt. Not the right head on the bolt to be out of either end of the driveshaft. I would suspect maybe a starter bolt, but again, it wasn't hot. Just warm. I can't find where it came from.

So... anyone got any ideas? Does it look familiar to anyone?

Thats not a 13mm so its not a starter bolt. Is it a 10 mm?

Montreal Qc,
Looks like rear driveshaft bolt.

The only problem is that mine are 3" long

10mm head with 8ft 10.9 markings.
Someone else mentioned starter bolt I can't remember what size they are

Check your driveshaft where it connects to the pinion! Those bolts look very familiar. When I changed out the driveshaft, I could pretty much loosen those with my fingers right away.... kind of had me wondering

Ok, not gonna BS anyone. I did actually find where it came from before I posted. Trying to get a little Sunday afternoon conversation going.

Peter and Andy were the closest. Yes, it is a 3" bolt, and yes it is 10mm.
But no, not a front or rear driveshaft bolt. It was one of the center bolts at the CV joint. And just to make me feel more comfortable, 4 of the damn things were loose.

Time to call Spyder.

I'll be doing a little write up on this d/s as soon as I get time to work on my car. I wanted to get one and install it this weekend, but I forgot that it is the 5th year anniversary this weekend. I'd rather work on my car.:beat:
