Looking at adding Ambient Lighting / License plate Covers

Looking at adding MyColor / License Plate Covers

OK... I used the search function. I did not find anything in three+ pages that offered what I am looking for.

Specifically...

We purchased a base 2014 GT with the 301A group and auto... Wife fell in love with the Ambient lighting/MyColor offered in the $4k more expensive GT's... I have looked around, I only see the Ambient lighting that works for the leg area and such.

Is there a kit out there that allows us to add the ambient lighting to the gauge cluster?

And...

It breaks my heart, but I live in a State that requires both license plates to be mounted... I looked at the flip up ones (Cheap $40 and the $80 and the powered $130) and frankly think they look like crap and I would never want the plate in the up right position. So I see no reason to waste my $$ on them. I read there is some grill mount type, but that the mounting sucks...

Sooooooo... Plan B... Where do I find "Quality" protective license plate covered with a slight tint to them? Not the cheap crap offered at Schucks (Or whatever they are called now) or Auto Zone...

Ambient lighting on the cluster, are you talking about "MyColor"? There is no ambient lighting for the cluster. You can change the color of the gauges with MyColor, that's it.

Ah! OK... So that is called MyColor... I just looked online and it seems this is a factory option and not something I can add?

Does ford finally change ALL the dash colors now? My 2007 would just change the instrument cluster colors and nothing else. Kinda defeats the purpose of being able to change colors. Red dash with green radio and controls looks kinda funny.

No, the dash colors remain the same at least on the '13. Gauges, door, cup holder, rear foot area and footwells change, as does the sill area when you open the door. I made a custom color on mine that mimics the radio, but looks slightly different.

Having red or blue and the rest green just looks unfinished, so I either run the factory color, my custom color, or white.

You could add it, but it would be costly. If you wanted it for the instrument cluster, you could always swap one in, but you would need to programmed to your vehicle.

Same here. Although I did run green for awhile, but I change it atleast once every two weeks.

The tinted license plate covers are illegal in most states. I had one on my car for a year and a half, got stopped twice for it and finally took it off.

I checked. Not legal in WA...

In Florida, anything covering the plate is illegal. Even the clear covers. Technically even many of the dealer frames are illegal but those are never ticketed.

You can find some nice clear covers at the WeatherTech.com site. Maybe these covers are sold elsewhere but I haven't looked.

I have a clear cover and a Craig's Custom Bracket and it looks great (in my not so humble opinion). I'd prefer to be plateless on the front but we have to have front and back plates here. Alas.

Thank you Chris, those covers are exactly what I am looking for from Weathertech!! I have purchased their custom fit floor mats on the last 5 or so vehicles and never thought to look for the covers there...
