Guys with the 1" lowering springs.

Will I need C/C plates?
Can I add the APHB later without problem?
Stock shocks/struts ok?

1) No..a 1" drop brings my car in at -1.2 degrees. Moderately aggressive but still within spec. A lot of people think this will result in More tire wear. Actually for most performance cars it's a mild number. If you never go around turns and do all your driving in a straight line it might be an issue. Regular rotation will keep wear even as will spirited cornering (that balances wear on the outer edge of the tire) Most unusual wear comes from bad toe settings (which you'll need to adjust)

2) Yes

3) OK, But not optimum. Depends on how important good handling and chassis control is to you.

Add me to the list of those with a lowered suspension. I am very happy with the results and felt a definite improvement right away. The first thing I noticed as soon as I drove away from the shop where the installation was done, was that my car no longer aggressively lurched when gunning the gas. It feels much better planted, unlike before where you could see the front end coming up. The steering feels tighter and after a couple of runs through some twisties I feel more confident than before at carrying increased speed through the turns. Prior to this, going into turns felt pretty good but coming from a VW GTI I could definitely feel that I had more mass to manage on my hands. After the suspension work it almost feels like a smaller and more nimble car. I have not really felt any drastic loss in ride quality. While it does feel a bit firmer than stock, and perhaps there is a bit more thumping when going over bumpy roads or potholes, it is the type of feel that I am used to coming from my other car mentioned above.

I would definitely recommend to anyone considering doing this to speak to Sam. If you have not seen his site check it out, and check out the video section while you're there, that will give you a hint about what he knows with regards to suspension work.

Below is a list of what I went with plus you'll definitely want to get an alignment.

- Steeda Sport Springs
- Steeda Heavy Duty Upper Strut Mounts
- Koni STR.T Series Damper Kit
- BMR Rear Adjustable Panhard Bar

I've read a number of posts where people don't recommend going with the panhard bar. I'm glad I got one. My rear wheels were shifted to the left to the point that it was noticeable to the naked eye.

In addition to the above I also got a set of 2005-10 Mustang Ford Racing GT500 Style Strut Mount so I could use the rubber isolators for the Steeda mounts. These could even be sourced from a used set if you can find one.

Finally, here are before and after shots of my car...

I "think" I read that the s197 rear is not centered in the car stock and it is only truly center at maximum suspension compression, this was done to ensure the tires would not hit the fenders.

I need to find it but I think it was Jack H from MM.

may do the saleen extreme wheel in silver. machined face seems kinda bland on steedas, and seems like most grabber cars have the polished lip black inset wheels. the silver looks good on the car but my 18s are just to small.

Quick question for you, did you have to do any additional modifications to get the Steeda Upper Strut Mounts to fit? I was speaking with a Steeda rep today and he advised me that the Strut Mounts will not fit the 2011 as they are different and that the 2011 specific ones are about a month away. I don't have a 2010 here to compare.. Let me know.

Thanks,

Derek

The difference is how the tops of the Shock tubes are machined on the 2011's. Older style shocks and top mounts use the longer shaft relief as shown below. 2011's require a thinner strut mount if you intend to retain the stock shocks. Most guys updating shocks on the 2011's use the GT500 strut mount which fits the older shock shaft and it appears the steeda shock mounts also fit the older style shock shafts.

I traded my 2007 in and ordered my 2011 3 weeks ago. Will I be able to use the Pro Kit(springs and dampers) off of the 2007 on the 2011? I saw on Brenspeed's website that Steeda makes one spring set for all 7 years but on Eibach's website 2011 has different part numbers. How about my BMR anti-sway bars? They also have the same part number for all 7 years on the springs but no information on whether the anti-sway bars will fit. Until I get to crawl under it I won't know and I hoping to get some insight from those who already have theirs.

I am trying to go slow with the mods yet give the car the few small missing touches that Ford did not.

I have a JLT and Brenspeed tune in the mail, I want to lower it just a little as this car is going to get driven a lot.

Which springs offer a nice ride with a perfomance feel? I had a Mach 1 and a TBSS and I ruined them both by lowering them. They looked great but the ride was horrible in both. Simply put I will not give up ride quality for looks in this car. I am worried I will mess it up changing any suspension parts. I alos dont want to spend a ton of cash if not needed.

If it matters the car is a BBP car and I will be keeping the stock wheels.

With regards to the C/C plates define "need". If you mean need them to be within alignment specs, no. I am using Sam's Steeda sports and the ride is slightly stiffer than stock. Exactly what I was looking for. Stock shocks and struts are fine. Yes you can add the adjustable panhard bar later with no issue. I did mine at the same time because I'm anal.
