FedEx Freight tried to deliver my block on Wednesday while the shop was closed for lunch. They wanted to charge a $108 redelivery attempt fee, but I talked them out of that. It should be at the shop today.

Now, if I could just get my rotating assembly delivered...

Transmission-related setback - The trans I have is a T56 Magnum as opposed to a Magnum XL.

0) The shifter will be too far forward. This likely cannot be fixed.

1) If I can wrangle an exchange for a Magnum XL, the input shaft will be too long for the application (mating up with a Windsor motor). The difference in length is less than 1/2 inch, but without measuring, nobody knows for sure exactly how much too long it is. It's looking like my only option regarding the input shaft is to have a custom input shaft made ($1000). I can't put a spacer between the block/bellhousing or transmission/bellhousing because that will affect the engagement of the shaft with the clutch disk.

FUCK!

Well, I talked it over with the shop guys, and we decided to see how much longer the input shaft is, and make a spacer to put between the bell housing and the trans, and then to ship the throwout bearing the same distance. If it's not more than 1/2 inch, we think we're gold. I'm gonna talk to the trans shop again and see what they say about that plan, and to get the length difference.

This is the fun of playing mix & match. Nothing some fab work can't resolve, I'm sure.

Didn't know that and I can't believe the state laws could supersede Federal law. I wonder how they get around that. So I could take a 2009 S197 and put in an engine I say is from 1969 and I wouldn't have to meet any emission requirements because there weren't any in 69?

Earl

That is how it is in PA, sans swap. Only safety inspection on a car that is a known fail.

Updates:

0) Rotating assembly has been delivered. I checked out my crank, and satisfied that it was pretty big, I put it back in the package. :)

1) I figured I'd play around with some of the parts, and decided to test-assemble the Fragola fuel line kit (Summit #FRA-920002-BL) onto the carb (QuickFuel BDQ-850). Imagine my surprise when the stanchions wouldn't thread into the float bowls past the first half turn. I called QuickFuel to make sure the float bowl inlet thread pitch was 7/8-20, and it is. Instead of forcing it, I ordered a similar Summit fuel line kit to see if it will thread in - should be here by Tuesday. This is truly bizarre, and I'm mildly annoyed.
