Wheels are sexy for sure!, just not a fan of black wheels.

I am not a fan either of (Solid) black wheels.
But these have the Polished Rim and Center Cap.
Plus add to that my Chrome McGard lug nuts and Stainless valve stem with the M/T Logo Chrome Cap.
And it all looks pretty darn Bad-Ass then on my Dark Green Bullitt.
IMO it gives it the, "Ole-Muscle-Car" look.
That's what I am going for with this new set-up.

Terry, do you have pics all the way around? How do you like the tires so far?

Here is the link to all the Pis. I took of the install of the M/T wheels & tires.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]http://www.imboc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2311202#post2311202

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]I have not yet driven any real long distances with them like out of State.
I have put miles on them here locally and just a guess but maybe like 200-miles so far.
The weather here has not been the best for just getting out and driving.
A lot of rain and cooler weather.

Regarding the M/T tires.
I like them and I really like the way they look on the new M/T SC-5 wheels.
I don't really think they produce a lot of (Noise) either.
I don't hear any noise coming from them on the interstate.
I have not had any reason to drive with them in the Rain.
I finally jacked up my Bullitt and put in on jack-stands last week and cleaned it underneath.
So not looking to just jump out there with it pouring down rain and have to do that again.

I can report this on (Traction) in cool weather like from low 50's to 60's.
I can brake the tires loose even rolling in low gear.
Not much Traction at all with the cooler weather.
(That was with 35 psi in all 4-tires)
I have since dropped the psi on all 4-tires to 32 psi.
Much smoother ride.

Now hopefully that might change when it actually gets hotter outside once again.
These are UHP (Ultra High Performance) tires for {Summer} use only.
Not real Cold Weather Tires !!!

Keep in mind that in my case my Bullitt does have 3.73 gears and has 562 RWHP. & 520 Lbs.Torque.
So it has a lot of Power at the rear-end for any type of real street tires.
And I do mean real street tires not any sort of Drag-Radial.

Let me add a few comments here on driving with Street Tires.
I have had more than a few sets now on the Bullitt.
None of them come close to holding Traction from a Stop.
That is just the way it is with street tires.
So the reason I mention that is this.
The M/T Street Comp Tires probably will do just as good as the rest.
But with my Bullitt they are not going to have a lot of traction in the lower gears.
Also in my case I have the TCI Super Street Fighter Tranny with the Circle-D Custom Billet Converter with 3:73 gears.

Hope this helps some with what you want to know.

Once the real summer temps hit I will be glad to come back and Post again.
Then I will be able to say what the tires do when it is Hot outside.

I guess I'm boss biased but I really liked the look of the boss rims on your car Terry. I agree however a little extra time is needed to clean, I confess I don't clean them nearly as well as you do either. Car continues to look amazing!!!

Charly,

I also liked the Boss wheels on my Bullitt.
But I wanted to change to a more (Ole-School-Look) and these M/T give it that look.

Detailing a car takes a heck of a lot of time.
In my case now that I am finally retired I can take all the time it takes to do it right.
Guys working everyday just don't really have the time it takes in most cases.

Looks great Terry, congrats Brother!

I would rock 'em for sure!

Doug,

Thanks man I really am liking this new (Muscle-Car) look.

These 20's really fill the fender wells up nicely.

I do have the Steeda Ultra-Lite springs.

So with the 20's and the lower springs it has turned out nice.

Looking nice Terry. How are the tires compared to the Continental Extremes?

Sean ...

Here is what my (Opinion) is.
It seems to me that the DW Continental Extremes I ran were 285 in the rear.
And they were in the 19" size.
So that means they had more (Sidewall) than the now (20" 275 M/T) tires in the rear now.

This is where I am headed with the above.
It seems to me the DWs had more traction
But I don't know really if it is the tires or a combination of things.
Like, 19" more sidewall to flex under POWER.
And the DWs were as I said 285s in the rear.

The 20" M/T I have are the largest M/T right now offers in their Street Comp tires.
There is very little difference in ( Tread-Width) between the 285 DWs & the M/T 275s.
But there is some .......

Plus then there is the 19" DWs versus the now M/T 20" with very little (Sidewall).

So bottom line IMO (in-my-opinion) is the DWs have greater traction abilities.
Now I also know that M/T is going to offer other tire sizes in their Street Comp tires.
I don't know when and I also don't know what those tire sizes will be.
But it seems to me that more than likely they will probably offer like the 285-295 or maybe 305 sizes in the 20".
I say that because the M/T SC-5 rear wheels I have are 10.5" width.
So it just seems to me to make sense that when they come out with more sizes they very well might be in the widths to fit these 10.5" rear wheels.

Now if and when they do that I can run the larger sizes and then maybe I will have greater traction equal to the Extreme DWs.

I am of the opinion there will have to be more Tread Width on the ground in the 20" tires to really provide any Traction for the Higher H/P Mustangs like mine.

In my case from a stop on the street my Bullitt Mustang is now, "Dangerous"

It would be stupid to let someone drive my Mustang now that had not had previous experience with high H/P Mustangs before.
It would be in the Ditch in the Blink of an Eye IMO.

I Luv the New M/T wheels and their tires but certainly looking forward to (Larger) tire sizes in the future.

Terry that's the main reason I still run 18's on mine. I can run the BFG KDW's I have all year if I wanted to and it would be safe to drive. They wont handle full throttle in the lower gears but you can accelerate quickly for normal driving with no problem.

I run DR's in the warm months for my DD tires and they will hold traction very well. I am just not a fan of 20 inch wheels, they look great but because of the lack of a decent sidewall, they bend easily and blow tires when you hit a pothole, they ride rough, have very little traction and just aren't worth the trouble.

I really hope they make a 305 in these tires. They are a very affordable and IMO a great DD tire. They hold my 500 hp in second gear very well and do decent in rain. I cant complain.

Earl ...

I like what I have but a larger size would certainly be a major benefit I think.

Your points are well taken. :thumb2:

20s are an application sort of thing I think.

They are not for traction IMO.

Here is something I am thinking about and these are right now available from M/T.
{Summer Application}
In my case I would just purchase another set of the M/T SC-5 10.5" rear wheels and have the
ET Street Radial II tires in 305/35/20 size.

ET Street Radial II
Optimized For Modern Sports Cars & Sport Compacts

The ET Street Radial line is specifically designed for modern performance cars including
sport compacts, Mustangs, Corvettes, Vipers
and others that require bigger wheel diameters for brake clearance.

  • Soft Compound For Superior Traction On The Drag Strip
  • Radial Construction for Excellent Ride Control on the Street
  • Polyester Ply, Steel Belted for Strength and Durability
  • D.O.T. Approved
All Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial tires are designed for drag racing use.
While Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial tires meet Department of Transportation
requirements for marking and performance,
they are recommended for
DRY PAVEMENT USE ONLY.

I really hope they make a 305 in these tires. They are a very affordable and IMO a great DD tire. They hold my 500 hp in second gear very well and do decent in rain. I cant complain.

RJ ...

I agree the M/T Street Comp tires do very well in rain.
They also do okay on the street if driven with some degree of caution.

I'm thinking the next set of tires from them in the 20" will probably be the larger sizes for their 10.5" rear wheels.

I will be up dating when they come out for sure.

I saw a car rolling through somerset a few weeks back that looked almost exactly like yours. I was going the opposite direction and did a double take thinking it might have been yours but by the time I looked back it was to far away to tell anything lol

New wheels are looking good though
