Anyone going to the http://gpstracktime.com/ track day at black hawk farms this Sunday? $195 for 2 hours is a great deal.
Yes, I'm going. Can't pass it up for the price. They added a 7th session so that's 140 min for $195.Hmmmm.... Thanks for the heads up, devildog. Are you going? I was thinking of going on Saturday just to spectate the HRP track day at BHF, but maybe I'll get the old girl prepped for this instead. The weather is supposed to be nicer (cooler) on Sunday anyway. I think my NT01's have one track day left in them.
That is a good deal. Never heard of that club but I'll keep them in mind for the next Blackhawk event. I can't make this one.
I think Blackhawk is a great track for these cars. Its fun, its fast enough and challenging. Everyone around here makes a big deal about Road America but its just hard on engines and brakes and only about half the lap is fun the rest is straight and fast. Its a road course meant for Indy cars and ALMS prototypes, imho.
See ya there.Yes, I'm going. Can't pass it up for the price. They added a 7th session so that's 140 min for $195.
See ya there.
Were you running in the Advanced group? I was in intermediate.
Below is a link to my best lap.

Nice video, good lap. What data acq and software are you using?
Yes, advanced. My best laps below. Not my favorite POV, but shows the lines well. I paid the extra $20 for GPS/data acquisition, so that will be interesting to see. These laps were edited together to show progression from 1:22.2 down to 1:21.7
That was a great run, line looks real good. You on slicks? On slicks I could probably shave off another 2 seconds, I was on Nt05's. What other mods you got? Post the GPS info when you get it. I didn't do it because of the App but would like to see how it looks.
NT01s on TSW Nurburgring wheels. That surely makes the biggest impact wrt lap times.
Suspension: Tokico D-Spec dampers, MM caster/camber plates, Eibach ProKit springs. I have a Steeda rear sway bar only because it was offered as part of a deal for a NOS Boss oil cooler. Front sway bar is stock. Not sure I have the experience to be able to differentiate one way or the other when it comes to details like that anyway. Likewise, the springs maybe aren't the best for the job, and I could probably use something stiffer, but whatchagonna do? That was the first mod I did just to get the factory 4X4 stance corrected, before I even knew track days existed.
In addition to the oil cooler I also have a Fluidyne radiator to keep temps under control. Although they still get high out there. For monitoring that and other stuff I have two ProSport EVO (oil temp & oil pressure) and an Aeroforce gauge.
I actually had to add the Brembo brakes aftermarket since I have the Cal Special car. Added ducting too. I get terrible brake judder at high speeds. I don't know whether to blame uneven pad deposits (rotor "warping") or what. It has happened with various pad and rotor manufacturers, and multiple ways of bedding in the stuff. Perhaps I need new hubs. Or perhaps I need to find another hobby. Tires are about at EOL and I'm retired now. Don't know that I want to spend the money to keep up with the speed Joneses anymore.
BTW, I use 0W40 or 5W50 oil, or a combination.
Oh, not a mod per se, but one more thing that I just started doing is pulling the ESC fuse. That will COMPLETELY kill traction/stability nannies. I found that even with the AdvanceTrac Off setting (hold down button for 6 seconds routine) there were still active sensors that prompted some cutting off of the throttle out of particular corners. Pulling that fuse also disables ABS. I know some people aren't too keen on doing that, but it works for me. On the track only of course.
